The Second Florida Thread

I spent Christmas Eve evaluating machines.

With Geek Easy closed, I went to Fashion Square this afternoon, and saw their DDR Supernova dedicab. In terms of performance, it wasn't bad. 1P's timing was just. 2P felt a bit creaky on the right arrow. It felt like the platform wasn't fully on the ground on that side.

Managed a couple personal bests on it.





That being said, I am not going back. I mean, 8 credits per play, equal to $1.33. I am not travelling that far to spend that much on a game.

(As an aside... I wish doubles premium was on the machine at Geek Easy. Not joint premium necessary, just doubles premium.)

I decided on a whim to do the Power Hour at Dave & Buster's. I managed to get about 35 credits on the X2 machine. Got some personal bests, including matching my DDR score, so I used the X2 score in the Tracker.

At the end, I did a PA on Kind Lady. At one point, I got a AAA on it about 15 straight times, but it was always 1-3 greats.

With 13 credits left (I didn't use all of them, I let others use a few too), I felt a twinge in a...tender area. The repetitive motion was taking its toll, so that was going to be my last game of the night. On that final stage, I finally got my third PFC.



Not only that, as you can see, I also got the machine record. Someone named "BUTTERS" got a bunch of AAAs on the machine after my PFC on Gorgeous 2012, which was a machine record when I got it. I lowered it from their 40 perfects.

Nice work! I just got done playing SN2 at City Walk and got some really good scores. Also, will anyone be at Dave and Busters from now until the day before new years eve?

Good work. I just played it on a whim toward the end of the night and just happened to get the AAA.

Doubles Premium wasn't introduced until SuperNOVA 2.

Geek easy will be open at 5pm today if anyone was planning on checking it out

Anyone doing anything tonight? If not, I don't mind going to Dave and Busters to play DDR and stuff.

After two visits to the SN2 machine at NASCAR Sports Grill at CityWalk, I have my 50th documented SPH AA with Kagerow. In addition, Baby's Tears Sky Girls is my 40th FC at SPH.

The pads play great. The audio is terrible. Drowned out by the games around it, AND the right side speaker is crackling.

Oh, the Team Oni Tournament is this Saturday at The Geek Easy. Only issue is that I have work that day, will try to switch with somebody for that day off but seeing how my job has been this past week, I don't even think they will grant me that day off even if I switch it with someone.

Next tournament though, I WILL be there, and for VERY good reasons ;)

Also DDR Storm XIV is happening May 16th - 18th at LaPlaya Resort and Suites in Daytona Beach. FL

It will be my first time there, hope to see some of you guys there as well

Anyone coming to our tournament on Saturday, I'm selling a metric ton of DDR's for PS2, disc only, $3 a pop. Complete your collection! If you have a DDR USA/Konamix, or a PS1/PS2 memory card to trade for a game, I'll happily accept those, I need more of those for my set.

I can't make the Geek Easy tourny because I work. My wife and I will more than likely be going to Storm this year though. Like 99% chance. Also just posting again, I have a ITG upgrade in Tampa, anyone wants to play let me know.

^ not sure what this is about? Maybe it's coming across more rude than intended. Basically made me feel like "Okay I don't give a crap about what you have to say." It was more intended to anyone reading so maybe I could meet some new people, but okay.

I'm not cranky, I just don't understand when he says "I work." and "I'm going to Storm." when it's on the same day of the week.

There are plenty of reasons why he might have to work this Saturday and not the weekend of Storm. I'm sure if he had no interest in coming this weekend, he wouldn't have even mentioned it. Personally, I'm excited for it. I'm practicing my ass off to hopefully not embarrass myself.

xiga, if you were in Orlando, I'd be on that in a heartbeat! Tampa isn't the worst drive in the world, though. Maybe I could make it out there someday.

Uh, the reason I can't go this weekend is because I don't have any paid time off to use, but by the time storm happens I will. And yes I do want to go this weekend I fully intended on it but I realized I didn't have any pto to use because I JUST got full time status. I actually just checked and I only have 2 hours of pto by this weekend.

As for everyone else. Hopefully I'll have more of a reason to come here in the later months this year. I will be getting more machines that aren't around anywhere else. When the time comes I'll update here and the group on Facebook.

Back to NASCAR as I begin my warm-up for the tournament. After managing a full combo A on Baby's Tears Sky Girls on Sunday night, I set a goal to get a FC AA on it tonight.

Got it on my third try.



I also registered a AA on Trip Machine luv mix.

The speakers didn't seem as difficult tonight, but I noticed for the first time that there was an issue developing with the monitor. It's beginning to squish down on top. It's barely noticeable now, and doesn't affect gameplay yet, but it's definitely happening. It's most visible with the credits.

Went to D&B for 1/2 Off Wednesday. This time, the 2P was doing alright (not perfect, but not insistent issues), but the 1P up arrow quickly degraded. I made it a point to tell one of the techs.

I got five new personal SPH records (including an FC on Twinbee), and set four DPH machine records before 1P up degraded.

I never noticed these problems at the NASCAR place. Seems perfectly fine to me. But when it gets crowded it is hard to hear the machine (they should turn up the volume).

Damn. I was in Orlando too but I'm now back in Indiana. At least I have a couple of DDR tournaments to look forward to once I move there. haha
