This maybe the most rediculous thing to ask since I might already know the answer to.

Can a Japanese IIDX controler work on a US system and game?

Yes.

Also, I own a C33 as well. It's really nice. I upgraded mine with sanwas and omrons, so it was $400 total with shipping included. It's totally worth it.

I don't know if you already got yours, but for the customization possibilities and the quality of this one, i think it is pretty worth the $199 http://gamo2.com/en/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=308
Good Luck with the hunting ;D

The turntable looks like it's more elevated then normal. That or it's always been like that and I've never noticed it.

In relation to AC play, it's identical. It's definitely higher than a KOC turntable is.

And yeah, nthing the support of DJ Dao. I will say if anything I recommend the FP7 as a good first ASC, and I heavily recommend going all out on it if you can. Get Sanwa keys, and get Omron 50g microswitches. The default Honeywells don't last at all, and Sanwas definitely feel smoother compared to Dao buttons. Shipped to the US, a top-line FP7 (Sanwas/Omrons) will run you aboutt $400 ($320 + $80 ship). Not really cheap, but it's about as cheap as top-line gets for an ASC.

If you're low on funds and are just trying to get started, check the secondhand markets for KOCs or ASCs. I've been lucky with the secondhand market. I got my first controller, a JKOC, through Bemanistyle's forum marketplace. About two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to find out that a friend on twitter was selling their Dao FP7 shell- everything but the 7keys, which they were planning on repurposing for a different controller. A different friend had just upgraded from Dao buttons to Sanwas and no longer needed their Dao buttons, so I worked out a deal that got me the FP7 shell and my other friend's Dao keys for just under $100. Plus some free switches, since they didn't need the 100g switches that came with their Sanwas- they had bought some 50gs for their own controller.

Basically, if you want to buy new, go for the FP7 on Gamo2 with Sanwas and Omrons. Expect to pay $400.
If you want to buy used, scour the secondhand markets nonstop.

Thanks for the info.
I was about to go honeywell but didn't know if I should.
Going all out sounds right since I am not starting the game. I need a controller that will let me pass 12's without keys jamming.

I had honeywells+daos the first time I got an FP7, and they weren't that bad IMO.

It just creeps me to think that I'd spend the money and get something equivalent to a koc.
The disappointment would be most high.

A little assurance is good.

If you're playing 11s and 12s, then yeah, go with Sanwas and 50g Omrons. It's as close to arcade-accurate as possible on that front.

Honestly, Dao buttons aren't bad if this is your first ASC. However, if you're significantly used to an arcade setup, it'll feel off. Sanwas take a bit of time to break in but they're worth it.

As for switches... the default Honeywell switches are only 10g, which makes them significantly lighter than the arcade standard (50g). Even a well-worn 50g switch will feel heavier than a 10g switch. Plus, they're also shorter-lived. 50g Omrons are very much "just right" in how much force it takes to press the switch.

Just to clarify, the FPS and FP7 are basically the same thing, it's just a change in appearance?

They're the same in that they're both arcade style controllers, yes. I'll go into a bit more detail between the two.

The FPS is shaped similarly to a KOC, and has a turntable the size of a KOC. However, the turntable's height is identical to an arcade setup. On top of that, it has the option to choose between KOC spacing (which is slightly closer than AC) or AC spacing between the keys and the turntable.

The FP7 is shaped more like an arcade style setup, and has a turntable that is slightly smaller than an arcade setup, but is noticeably bigger than a KOC turntable. Its turntable is also the same height as an arcade setup. It has spacing between keys and turntable identical to the arcade.

Is there a huge difference between dao+omrons and sanwa+omrons? I already have dao+omrons, but I've never played on an arcade machine.

Sad I wish i lived in the USA or Japan, here in Brazil things are EXTREMELY expensive because of the shipping costs..
BTW, can someone explain to me exactly what is the difference between SANWA and DAO buttons?? Thx Smile

I suppose this anwswers both of these, so here's the simple explanation: Sanwa buttons are made by Sanwa Denshi, and Dao buttons are made by DJ Dao. The big difference is that Sanwas are exactly what you'll find on an arcade cab for IIDX. The exact same button. Daos are generally cheaper and won't feel the same, which (when it comes to buttons) is a big, big thing for quite a few players.
For a similar example, I've been told there's a world of difference between Sanwas and Seimitsus as far as arcade buttons go. And I can personally attest to Dao keys feeling different from Sanwa keys. I prefer Sanwas but I'm not against using Dao keys- I'd definitely spend the extra money on Sanwas if ordering a brand new Dao, though.

Oh, thanks Big Grin
But i never played on an arcade cab so Neutral, it doesn't make a HUGE difference to me, i started liking 2DX recently, and i never played it, that's why i'm looking for a controller, i have SM5 with the 2DX15 theme on it so the controller is the last Tongue

About how long does it take for a dao to get to you guys after ordering one? It's been about two weeks for me and I don't know if they even shipped it out to me yet... They don't answer emails either, so...

it took quite a long time for them to ship it to me.. at least a month. they did respond to e-mails though. they told me that they were waiting for some part they were out of and gave me an estimated ship date. they also provided tracking information so i could see how long it sat in guangzho or wherever before leaving china.

anyway, keep e-mailing them. i'm sure they'll respond.

Sent 3 e-mails. I feel like it could be the Chinese New Year making this happen, though I am just not sure.
Just a little reply saying "yes, it is coming soon" would have been nice instead of just having "Status: Processed" be there only.

Just in case... it is "sales@gamo2.com" to contact or is the page outdated?
