Aha! Yes! This is nowhere to be found!
Alright. Talk about your favorite Touhou, your favorite difficulty, and your favorite anything from Touhou or other danmakus here.
I rather enjoyed Touhou 7 and 8 only due to the fact that you could unlock extra by playing AND beating any difficulty without a continue. Don't judge me... I play -ahem- EEZY MODO for most games... My eyes suck and my reading ability with the bullets is poor at best.

Reimu top tier Toohoo, also Utsuho.
I can only really only handle normal, and with that I've only almost 1CC'd normal in 8, nothing impressive, but I'm happy with it. I also obsessively played 11 for a while trying to at least get through it, still have only gotten to Rin. Dammit Yuugi.
Other than that I play Hisoutensoku sometimes, ask me if you wanna play a round, I'd be happy to.

The same with me. I've only 1cc'd Imperishable Night and Ten Desires, everything else I'm having a bit of difficulty.
Nearly 1cc'd UFO normal only to be foiled by bullets not dissolving after clearing Flying Fantastica. Dammit Byakuren ><

I can 1cc Imperishable Night, Ten Desires, Mountain of Faith (only managed it once by luck), and UFO if I don't mess up too much vs. Shou. The only game I haven't cleared at all is Fairy Wars, which I think is harder than Subterranean Animism.

Ugh. SA... That one was relentless to kill you. What IS 1cc? No continues I'm assuming. Oh and I suck at Hisoutensoku. I suck at any fighting game :V

Yeah, 1cc is completing the game with no continues. In MoF the only time I ever pulled that off was by luck, I had no lives left going into Stage 6 but managed to make it out alive.

I've had that happen a couple times in IN. I would cringe at a bullet that'd be like one pixel away from my characters hitbox and then get startled by beating the spellcard as the bullet disappeared. It's kind of funny to watch because my eye twitches.

1cc'd EoSD on Normal, PCB and IN on Hard, and MoF on Lunatic. I want to try the picture games or a PC-98 but for now I'm trying to get a good score on MoF extra.
I think the reason I like Touhou more than other shmups is because it kind of strays from the cookie-cutter futuristic setting where you're a ship and every other enemy is just a bigger ship. Plus the music.

I would personally recommend people try the PC-98 games. Are they old? Hell yeah, but they have a charm to them and are pretty enjoyable. I do find it interesting that the first game of the series isn't even a shooter, it's essentially Touhou x Araknoid, but still manages to be pretty cool. You might also notice the music, since even way back in 1996 it was well known for it.

I have an impressive 0 normal 1ccs, sadly enough. I haven't played an actual Touhou game in some time though - I should probably start doing that. (The last time I did was when I didn't know much about it like a year and a half ago and failed miserably at EoSD on like stage 2 or something.)
As an aside, Cirno's not actually my favorite - I have no idea who is anymore. Reach for the Moon for best theme though.
As for other shmups, I went on a "find random ones" binge, and did my closest thing to an accomplishment:
That is, if you call getting a 1cc with 0 lives left an accomplishment. (Difficulty ramps up about 3:45 on or so). It was on Very Hard, but how hard it was is kind of debatable considering all of the lives and slowing down time being pretty much the best subweapon, but I digress.
Hopefully I can actually 1cc some Touhou game soon.

I haven't played Touhou in a while...I should get my hands on Ten Desires on of those days at least for knowing about those characters I keep seeing in doujins >.>
Anyway, I was 1-cc in normal in the 6th and the 7th and 1cc Hard in 8. I would also finish the extra-stage in the 6 and the 8. But somehow I couldn't get used to the changes starting with MoF and can only easy 1cc from here on (can go up to normal Utsuho in SA but get destroyed).
I was also playing Hisoutensoku and am rather looking forward the next fighting game ^^
All in all my favorite may be IN cause its the easiest :p
(And I sometimes throw a credit or two in Mushihime-sama if there is a borne in the arcade I am in, can 1-cc it in normal mode sometimes...even if the end boss is over-powered and I will usually bomb my way through9

I can 1cc all but SA consistently on normal, and i've only managed to 1cc UFO and IN on hard. I passed IN on lunatic by sheer luck since I completely guessed on some of Reisen's attacks and managed to only die twice. As far as Extra stage goes I can usually clear them pretty consistently, exceptions being Koishi in SA and Yukari in PCB's Phantasm.
My personal favorite of the modern touhou games is probably MoF for not only the gameplay and characters, but also the background. Go watch a video of someone playing MoF and ignore everything on-screen but the background, it's incredible and one of the reasons I lose so many lives early.

Out of the PC-98 games the first is my favorite, despite it being of a completely different gameplay style. I still play it from time to time. I mean come on, Sariel is cool and you all know it.
LOOK AT IT

Outside of touhou, what would be a nice series of bullet hell games to try?

I've heard Mushihime-sama is pretty good as well as Dodonpachi Daifuuketsu(I think that's how you spell it). They're a bit less special than Touhou but they're still pretty good apparently.

As far as commercial stuff goes, if you're looking for easier stuff, I've heard Mushihimesama Futari and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu/Resurrection are some easier ones. Both can be played on any Xbox 360 (Mushihimesama Futari is region-free, and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu has a PAL release that can also be played on US 360s).For some easier doujin/PC games, there's the TWINS series (TWilight INSanity, TWilight refrAIN, Alternative Sphere), RefRain ~prism memories~, Crimson Clover (Simple mode), and Suguri and Sora if you're looking for something a little different.
If you aren't necessarily looking for something easy, there's also things like Ketsui, Dodonpachi Daioujou (and possibly Saidaioujou when it comes to 360 later this year), Battle Garegga, Battle Bakraid, ring^-27, Banshiryuu (part of the Seihou series), and Hitogata Happa. Also, ∀kashicverse -Malicious Wake-, Project Repliser, and Stella Vanity are probably really good, judging from their demos.

I remember a while ago a member here introduced Rhythm Destruction. Rhythm game + shmup. Also, Phoenix is a pretty fun iOS app, but it gets bullshitty from time to time because enemies' attack patterns are randomized.
