Rhythm Game Venting Thread

Ever wanted to let off some steam due to getting black flags all the time or other reason where you don't care if people laugh at it?

Well, this is the thread for it and I'll start with flagging GORGEOUS 2012 for like the 5th time ever...

I have an Extreme machine that set it's volume to ear deaf levels so if at any point someone plays it I can't play anything else like ITG

Oh my god, I was actually considering making a thread of this after flagging songs time after time, but now I don't have to. Thanks, Alan.

Anyways, my biggest rant when it comes to DDR is the fact that I keep jinxing myself on A LOVE LIKE THIS on singles expert. Last month, I got two greats on that song at least 10 times in a row. After flagging it later on, I still kept getting 2 greats, mixed in with getting 5 greats or less, and that one time I that I got 9 greats.

A LOVE LIKE THIS is a great chart, but it pisses me the fuck off.

Failing anything in IIDX with 78% gauge is the worst fucking thing.

Also, FUCK the Club Missions in DDR Universe 3. Specifically, that one mission where you have to get all Goods on a 16th trill. I don't think this is even POSSIBLE with the timing windows that game has.

Was confident with my IIDX skills.
Tried to HARD CLEAR some 8s.
Picked AOI SHOUDOU because familiarity.
Unforeseen hard part came.
Life bar drops.
Dies.
First
Fucking
Stage.

Agreeing with the 78% IIDX gauge. Holy shit, if there's one thing I hate about rhythm games it's the bilevel lifebars. pop'n has the same effect on me, and Technika in Club mode (glitchy repeater phrase at the end of your Stage 1 song? LEL YOU AIN'T GETTIN' IT THIS TIME).

A bad arrow or a whiff in an otherwise PFC on a DDR chart. The only thing standing between me and a PFC on JANEJANA EDP was five pad misses.

Other examples to come as I remember or experience them hahaha, this is the thread of the year right here

I can't tell you how many times I 78%'d 11's and 12's to consider them passes...seriously, iidx, why?

I never did clear waxing and wanding [SPA] after that time I 78%'d it around 3 years ago...though I'm not playing official IIDX very much anymore.

Anyway, a few from me (sadly without pictures):

I have this weird thing where there are some songs that I should be able to FPC, but by some act of divine intervention one something of the sort, I just can't get them. Two in particular at the moment are Paranoia and My Only Shining Star.

I've gotten 1 great on each at least 5 times each, and on Paranoia, I've had my shoe come undone and get caught in the pad to end one would-be perfect combo, I've gotten the dreaded great on the last note, and I've had the pads temporarily be unable to accept input. Fabulous.

My Only Shining Star's even better, because the machine I was trying to FPC it on doesn't like jacks, so there's about a 50/50 chance I'll just get a pad miss in the beginning and have it end without me even doing anything wrong. I've had the pleasure of having some father and his child scream like they were in some sort of Rambo movie or something playing the light gun game next to me, ruining that run. I've even had the intense joy of stepping on a child that decided to walk on the pad from behind. With that run ruined, I turned to apologize to the parent, who wasn't even there.

And on the matter of rampant children, I've even had a set of parents pull a different parent's child off the pads during another game because the parents were just too enthralled with their Skee-ball game to care where there child was going.

Moral of the story: Watch your kids, please.

This has happened to much I'd rather be not sorry if I happened to kick their children off the pad and they are not even paying attention to their kids... OR they are actually making their children play on the goddamn pad. I mean, can't you EVEN SEE THERE'S SOMEONE PLAYING!?

And yeah 78% fail...the bane of every IIDX player (even more when it's a not difficult song with a rush in the last 5 seconds like Yaksha, Saber Wing or such...I lost count of how many times I saw that ****78%)

I had a harder time with GET ON BEAT (WILD STYLE).

That song blows too...but somehow I've not had so much frustration with it now.

*sigh* DDR EXTREME arcade cabs used to be nightmare fuel for me as far as black flags are concerned. There were times when I would go like 5-6 songs in a row with at least 1 great and i'd just stand there going "What do I have to do?" and then i'd just walk away with some sense of defeat. I wasn't totally going all out for AAAs, but it was that sense that I was so close but yet so far that really bugged me. After a while I finally got my first AAA and then a few more, but there was a long time waiting for it to ever happen. I never want to experience something like that again

I've had that 78% fail happen twice and each time it's like "OH COME ON!"

Failing VerTex^2 HARD on the last row of mines.

Failing VerTex^2 EXPERT on the 2nd stop during the 555 part. Never been that close again.

Somehow passing FmaxX Heavy with an E. I did it and thought I passed it and thought "HOLY SHIT I DID IT I".... then I hear the words "AHHHHHH YOU COULD'NT MAKE IT". This time it was I who could not stop crying buckets of tears.

1 good on MAX 300 in Vegas while I was sick. Don't ask why I try to play MAX 300 under illness but I know I will never get that close to FCing that in a long time.

Energizer Expert. I did it once after a year of trying. Never doing it again.

Yeah I remember the time when I failed THE CUBE [a] because of that annoying 78% mark.
Also Around The Galaxy. Hyper is not an 8, and the Another is definitely not a 10.
