Not sure if it matters, but Round1 updated their location test post; they removed Tsum Tsum. There's one less eAmuse game to be hype about. :<

Apparently the location test won't be DDR 2015 but DDR 2014

what's the difference?

also i hope you guys get some sort of compromise with paseli (i don't know how it works with currently paseli enabled machines already in the states) because otherwise you can't play extra stage/get to extra attack (and use some mods but i guess this is the least of your concerns).

"DDR 2015" doesn't exist yet, and I would imagine if the game is "localized" in anyway it would mean Premium Play would just cost an extra credit and not paseli, seeing how paseli use is disabled on all eamuse connected games at US Round1 locations.

if paseli is disabled, how do you guys access modes other than standard start in SDVX? do they cost extra credits or are they inaccessible altogether? I'm curious how this works compared to asian machines.

For those keeping track, here's what's left of X2's (IMO) awesome license selection:

IF YOU WERE HERE / Jennifer
only my railgun / fripSide
resonance / NAOKI-EX

IF YOU WERE HERE is likely remaining due to the remix being commissioned along with interpolation credit with MAX 300. Only My Railgun is around likely due to fripSide remaining generous in licensing for all of BEMANI, unlike artists like AAA and Girl Next Door (who have had multiple songs drop off jb and RB) resonance was the only in-house cover and Naoki appears fine with keeping his tracks in the game.

Couple things,

1. I'm pretty sure artists aren't in charge of licensing. (See credits in the jubeat game and website for examples.) fripSide still being around is likely thanks to NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan (then Geneon Universal Entertainment). AAA and Girl Next Door are both signed with AVEX so it's probably AVEX's fault the songs dropped (most of these X2 licenses scheduled for removal are from AVEX).

2. In-house covers aren't protected, as we saw the cover of ClariS' Connect removed.

welp in that case it's hard to keep my hopes up for premium play, at least what i think. hope that changes though.

How badly do people who have been saving vacation money need to plan to visit this location test to support it?

'Cause as hype as I would be to go to California and play on a real DDR cabinet, the Round 1 in Illinois is closer to me and would probably be a better impulse trip. : D...

Also boo on losing ETERNITY. Just... 'cause I really like that song and it's a long time that I need it in my life.

If you're going, make sure you thank Round 1, by making sure you buy their food, drinks, and throwing money at other machines. They won't care so much about how many credits are in DDR at the end of the location test, as how much money the people who play DDR spent in the rest of the arcade, and most importantly, how much extra money the arcade as a whole made while DDR was there, compared to what they make when DDR isn't there.

Also, don't spend much time scrolling through menus, or selecting a song. arcade operators really hate seeing games where players stand around, not doing anything.

This whole post is great, especially the "don't spend much time scrolling through menus or selecting a song" part. While you're at it, do you want to force everyone to play Doubles so they make twice as much money?

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

I'm honestly surprised those licenses stuck around as long as they did. Also hey, Konami, when are we getting DDR Vol. 2 OST?

Not sure if serious, but PHM has had Double Premium in the past so money does not apply. No idea if they still do on X3.

So just a clarification for people in regards to the DDR location test.

Konami is organizing the test and Round1 is providing the venue. Every update I've posted in regards to it has come from contacts that I have at Konami that are involved in the test directly, not from Round 1. Round 1's staff didn't even know the tentative date for the test until a few days ago. The decision to hold the test at PHM was like due to the size and proximity of the location when compared to where KOA's headquarters are, along with their already established e-amusement connection (I haven't bothered asking about the venue decision because it seems like a no brainer).

That being said, go support the game and spend money on it. The performance of the game itself is going to be what's most important during the duration of the test, not money generally spent around the arcade. I'm trying to coordinate something with them so player feedback can be recorded and delivered to the development team as well, but this is not a confirmed thing yet.

I would if there was a Round 1 remotely near me.

Anyways, I hope that it actually succeeds because that's some pretty exciting stuff if Konami actually cares about the US again. Maybe we'll even get a non-botched version of Beatmania so I don't have to eventually import when I have the money! maybe.

I can't go to the location test because I live in Illinois, and it would coust a lot of money to get there. (Yes, I'm aware that there's a Round 1 in Illinois. But even if they held it at that Round 1, I still wouldn't go because I live about 20-30 minutes north of there.)

Are you kidding? 30 minutes is too far for a reason to go? I live 45 minutes from my nearest Round1 and that doesn't stop me at all.

I drive 30 minutes to go to an American X2 cab.

Yes.

I'm that desperate.
Seriously, you should go. I wouldn't turn down a chance like this in my life.
