^As a side note, I believe that song's title refers to the number of steps per minute at the end (which is actually 888), rather than beats per minute which is 444.

And it has to be something that would only screw up a player going for a PFC as opposed to an FC. That's been the deal with all the gimmicks so far.

Your right, the number of people who think 888 is that 888 BPM is astronomical. It would make sense, but that's not how it is.

I feel like this discussion has been had a bajillion times on this forum, but what it comes down to is the BPM in-game vs. the actual BPM of the song. Frequently in-game BPMs won't match up perfectly, and in this case, the actual BPM of 888 does go to 888 at the end. However the in-game BPM only goes to 444.

Back on topic, I wouldn't be surprised to see an 800 BPM section in OTP somewhere. I think the song title is indicative here, and given that MAX.(period) is notorious for its 600 BPM section at the end, I think it would fit. In terms of other PFC-breaking gimmicks, I bet there'll be a stop-and-start section somewhere, similar to Valkyrie dimension, Fascination ~eternal love mix~, or Go For The Top. Especially considering the method of stops used in the other RDi songs where it stops right before the step, not an 8th or 16th (or even a whole beat) before, there's a lot of potential for gimmicks.

Since Over The "Period" is taking a long time to learn, due to the PFC requirement, I the title may mean an unspecified "Period" of time. Maybe they need such a difficult task in place so they will have more time to develop some new surprises and challenges. I recently thought to myself, "What if someone clears OTP and some new bonus boss stage appears... OMG, what if DM Ashura and TAG collaborated and made a new version of neoMAX..." That might be far-fetched and slightly dumb, but I think it would be cool.

Certainly cool, but to be realistic, very unlikely, due to the second cutscene showing Dark Rinon reverting back to Rinon and all. Though I definitely wouldn't be complaining if some surprise did show up. Beating the first Encore Stage did by itself unlock something after all (namely Dark Rinon as a playable character).

But anyway, I hope that when DanceDanceRevolution Original Soundtrack Vol.2 comes out, Over The "Period" is on it. It would be a shame to not have it included. How many new songs have appeared since the release of the first volume?

They're at a pretty good number for an OST. Ignoring all licenses, event songs shared across BEMANI games, and songs already on other, non-soundtrack albums (like Go↓Go↑Girls&Boys!) we have:

21 crossover songs from other games.
29 original songs (including CS songs, which they historically repeat on soundtracks, and SABER WING (satellite silhouette remix))

For 60 50 total new songs that I'd expect to see on a soundtrack.

A few days before Valkyrie dimension was passed for the first time, we did get Pluto the First and Mei as new boss songs. But that was more because of the fact that 111 days had passed, rather than the song actually being cleared.

@Dr.D: We demand videos!

I probably shouldn't say this, but if anyone gets to OT"P", record it. If you don't get farther, then just delete it. But what do I know?

Obviously the good news is I made it a little further. I learn from mistakes and I knew about the slow down this time when I played. I got lucky to get the correct timing going into the slow down and continued on several more steps until I got a great. My fault, I was still trying to transition. I can only say it was in fact about 150BPM and overall nothing too exciting though the mood of the song changed quite a bit.

Now, on to the bad news. I do not have a video of this attempt... I played at my local arcade today, hence I'm on the left side, and I used 513's medals to access OTP because he was playing Max. on challenge while I did it on expert. There were a couple of DDR friends watching and I was hoping once they saw I cleared the Speed Up section again one of them would take out their phones and start recording. Apparently playing candy crush was more exciting unfortunately. The only silver lining is this motivated me to try it again soon. I have gotten much better at the slow part and speed up section so making progress through the new 150BPM section is possible. I will keep grinding the song until we reach the 400 BPM section, at that point I'll throw up the white flag.

I will be very surprised if the Difficult chart EVER gets passed under the EES rules, wow.
