Didn't someone who requested the file to be made ask for extra steps after the end of the music for some reason?

i think there's a mistake with the file. after the stop, it should go immediately to 200 bpm (currently there's a short period it still has the previous bpm)
Silverhawke, the BPM was 200 when I initially downloaded OTP when it was first uploaded on this website. I still have the original uploaded version of the Simfile. The only thing I know is when I updated OTP into it's latest version, the BPM changes of the song was kept the same.Post #5723 · Posted at 2015-04-22 01:07:04am 9 years ago

no, look at this. there is a small time period after the stop where it still is 23.275bpm before speeding up to 200bpm. the bpm change to 200bpm should be coincident with the stop.

Thanks Silverhawke, I just overlooked that BPM change for a long time.

That BPM change is not necessarily a mistake. We know from frame-counting on videos we currently have that after the stop ends, there is a 3 frame period which is not 200 BPM; it's significantly less than 200 BPM (we've estimated 25-50ish). As soon as the 4th note is hit is when the 200BPM starts.
About the extra steps on Basic: those are just filler for now to mostly match the Difficult chart. We don't actually know what's after the L-R-L (or.the reverse); Dr. D was the one who mentioned filler steps would be nice, to help get used to the rhythm. I'll change the steps once we know more.
Also, in Dr. D's video where he turned the first step after the stop correctly, the song sounds a bit like VEGA, to me.

The BPM is 45 in the 1/8th of a beat between the stop and the 200bpm change:
It neither stays at 22.5 nor does it go immediately to 200. Maybe that's why everyone's been hitting it early...

First video confirms that the 1/16th of a beat window after the stop has a different BPM. It takes 3 frames for the 1/16th beat to scroll by, and even allowing for the overestimate that the 30fps camera was 0.5 frames late and the Perfect was an early Perfect (half a frame early), that would still be ~28.1 BPM which is already faster than the freeze before the stop. More likely, the window takes between 2.5 and 3.5 frames to pass 1/16th of a beat, which gives it a BPM of somewhere from 32 to 45, compared to the freeze before which has a BPM of 22.5. (Unfortunately, getting a more precise number is going to be almost impossible unless someone uses a high-speed/slow-motion camera or something.)
Anyway, @Dr.D looks like you're getting a lot of improvement at Perfect Attacking the opening, so it won't be long until we finally hear what the song sounds like more than 0.15 seconds after the speedup. Good luck!
EDIT:
Managed to successfully download the earlier 60fps lineout without breaking everything in the conversion process. The window takes nearly exactly 5 frames at 60fps to pass, which gives a BPM of 45.

If BPM is 45, then the stop should not be equal to 1.283 sec (like how it was measured via frame count in Sony Vegas), in order for it to sync when it reaches the first note in 200bpm. I said in another thread that the bpm before the stop until it reaches 200bpm is 23.176, not 23.275 or 23.276.

^At 30fps, I'm counting out 40 frames from the beginning of the last freeze to the flash in the middle (half a beat), plus 20 frames for the flash to turn off again (another 1/4 beat). That comes out evenly to 80 frames per beat which is 22.5 BPM, which also matches the 32.5-30-27.5-25 BPM progression before it. There's no guarantee that the first 200 bpm note has to fall on an integer number of beats relative to something; the stop may very well just be a pause/fermata of arbitrary length.

If we consider one beat after the start of the 25 BPM section to be the zero point, then from there to the next arrow would be 3.861 seconds if the whole section is 23.276 BPM, 3.872 seconds if the whole section is 23.176 BPM, and 3.866 seconds if the first 15/16 beats are 22.5 BPM and the last 1/16 is 45 BPM (as Zowayix stated). Since precision from a 60FPS video is 1/60 sec = 0.0167 sec, all of these round to 3.8667 seconds, so we can't distinguish them based solely on counting frames between those two arrows.
However, Zowayix's counting from the previous beat to the stop bounds the BPM near 22.5 and from the stop to the next arrow bounds that BPM between 37.5 and 56.25, so that 1/16 beat section is indisputably different from the previous one and the next one.
You know what? I'll just post the equivalent .sm code snippet:
,10.000000=22.500000
,10.937500=45.000000
,11.000000=200.000000
;
#STOPS:10.937500=1.283000
This assumes that razorblade's measurement of the stop is accurate (it may vary by up to 0.0167 seconds).

I have watched this thread since Over the "Period" first came out and this song (specifically just up to the stop) has got to be the most observed and dissected stepchart ever... I enjoy it all too cause a lot of calculation and effort is going into helping the best players conquer such a song.

A Challenge chart already? I don't think I've seen a new song on DDR having one by default in quite some time... or at least this quick.

Uh wow, did not expect that kind of a challenge chart from that song. Seems like it's a lot of fun though. (And actually the song sounds slightly familiar, is there anything else the singer did that I'm probably just forgetting at the moment?)
Post #5740 · Posted at 2015-04-23 01:58:47am 9 years ago
I am aware the singer, based on what I found on RemyWiki, did sing a few of the U.M.U. songs that were added into DDR 2014, jubeat saucer fulfill, and REFLEC BEAT groovin' last year.
