They should make a 20 and skip the number 19 again.
It'll continue their streak of being inconsistent.

The lack of any 19s is what makes the games feel underwhelming in the boss department.

Could that the main reason why DDR is dying? Few will have skills that ever get that high to even pass those charts. Even looking at the 2013&2014 mixes, you see a lack of easy songs for people to play. You look back to the old mixes and you see a bunch of songs in the 6-7Heavy range on the old scale or 8-11Heavy on the new one. Now, it seems every song has to have a 15+ chart.

I always thought they could use some easier songs for beginners to have some of the fun but I think it's from competition from newer dance game series like Just Dance(even though that's not a thing anymore) which is also avaliable in Japan.

Honestly, Konami crossed over some good songs from other BEMANI series, but Konami originals will really get me as interested as I was when DDR 2013 first came out. If they really have to, why not resort to a fan submission contest for music and charts?

They should just have a system where songs have multiple charts to pick from, so less skilled players can still play every song while better players won't get bored by a lack of difficult charts.

Agreed, Expert difficulty is for experts to play. Of course there aren't going to be easy songs unless you try Basic or maybe Difficult.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Some people forgot that BASIC/DIFFICULT is a thing, apparently.

More so, some people discount anything that isn't Expert or Challenge as a viable option to play. The vast majority of songs with a 15+ chart on Expert have a fantastic Difficult chart in the 10-14 range.

Yeah, to quote "Counting Combos"

Quote
"Some players eventually got discouraged and moved to lower difficulty levels and discovered there was a whole sub-clique of scorers that focused on getting the maximum possible scores on the Basic and easier difficulties."

Personally, I like the direction DDR 2013/14 has headed since it means that an expert will still have interest in playing the majority of songs since they all will have an element of challenge. I personally used to feel a bit bored at level 10 or below, but now even those have a bit of spice to them (i.e. "Everything I Need") I especially enjoy that the Challenge difficulty actually is getting much more use as time goes on, and as a legitimate 5th difficulty as opposed to Extra-Stage-gimmick-supporting (though I think that stopped after EXTREME) or Shock Arrow version of an easier chart (even some of the new Shock Arrow charts are getting interesting now). It also means the easier difficulties don't have wider gap in level, so I imagine casual players can appreciate this trend.

I agree. Usually when I try to get those hard Expert charts, I just sort of play the Difficult chart to ease me into the song and get the feeling and the times I play those, they're pretty good 12s (Magnetic and Triple Journey comes to mind).

Yep, Paranoia Respect has a fun (albeit basic) Difficult chart and I know there are plenty others as well.
If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

I always thought that a lot of people had an opinion on music games in which 'if you aren't playing the hardest difficulty, you aren't playing the true game'. I used to get kicked out of Rock Band games for choosing Hard and not Expert.

That is honestly the elitist music game player of America that are saying that. I'm not so sure if the Japanese say that as well, though I doubt it.

Yeah, but it seems to be a common thing now.

Rhythm games are probably the hardest of them all to get good at (except maybe fighters?), and a lot of people don't even consider them fun until they play them at the hardest difficulty.

a lot of Japanese players enjoy playing Basic/Difficult charts... on top of that several people are so good at MAing these, a lot of Basic charts are MFCed, I believe. only elitists would say that and I don't think such a thing exists in Japan (or Asia.. Singapore/Indonesia at least). Aaron should know more about this.

Hoping that the Kind Lady chart is not the Uni 3 one, I'm not a big fan of that chart.
