I have Stepmania 5 and I wanted to put RandomMovies for it to play during gameplay. However, there is no RandomMovies folder in my Stepmania 5 folder.
I downloaded the LouisConcentIII avi from here and put it in the BGAnimations folder and this was how it was like in Stepmania.
These were the settings I made:
Then I put the movie in the song folder and changed the settings of it and this was how it went.
I really need help.
And for some reason, the admin of Stepmania.com banned me from using the forums so I can't use that.

The video is 4:3, your theme is 16:9.

You must create a folder called "RandomMovies" and put the bgas there. In your stepmania go to "appearance option" and select random movies. That's all.

Someone should use a 16:9 bg movies version, as 4:3 versions looks awful in any 16:9 theme especially when movies are fully stretched.
What is pillarboxing?

i tried creating a Random Movies folder and put BGAs and it still didn't work please help? where should i put tha folder?

What sort of BGAs are you trying? Is the folder actually titled RandomMovies? You need to be more descriptive.

well i do actually have it titled "RandomMovies" and tryin' 2 run mostly SuperNOVA BGAs but i also made sure it was AVI and everything, still didn't show. not sure where to put tha folder at

Can you take screenshots? Can you confirm that the AVIs will play in the StepMania editor? Are you sure you have Appearance Options set so that RandomMovies will play automatically? Have you tried more than one song since a certain song may have a single image BGchange. Are the AVIs in another folder within the RandomMovies folder? There can be so much wrong you still need to be a lot more descriptive.

Did you make sure RandomMovies is within the Stepmania directory folder, like this?

It's most likely that you are not using SM5. The avi videos you got may have h264 container (non-xvid) in them.

yea i was usin' Stepmania 5 but what happened was i created tha folder and then throw in tha BGA's and it didn't work so somebody on youtube told me 2 also get stepmania 3.9, then copy & paste tha RandomMovies folder which also included an "instructions.txt" file and then it worked it worked so do i really had 2 have a instructions.txt file inside my RandomMovies folder?

Txt files inside are just place holders. You can safely delete them.Do they play using sm5 default theme?

for me it didn't play without tha instructions.txt file so i'ma just keep it
