There are a lot of stepcharts that come to mind that suck. Since DEGRS gets picked on too much, i'll say Trigger Challenge.

@0:51-0:56; WTF is this shit? These steps go with *NOTHING*! What were these stepchart writers thinking?

I also dislike FAXX Heavy & Challenge because they're heavily overstepped and doesn't follow the music, especially at the beginning for Challenge. Also Pierce the Sky Heavy and Unbelievable Heavy.

Songs shouldn't have hard stepcharts just for the sake of being hard. Annoyed Fortunately, DDR 2013 has drastically improved their stepcharts, IMO; especially for 15-17 rated songs. Even the once-hated "The Island Song" now has an awesome Challenge chart that actually makes sense, because of DDR 2013's stepchart team. I can't think of any 2013 charts that I absolutely hate.

I love those charts. Puppy Face I guess that reinforces the 'opinion' part of the thread title.

I personally can't stand the max series' x-special charts, or Unreal Heavy

I really wished they had re-written Paranoia Revolution Challenge... it's like they took a potentially good chart, and put on "Cement Mixer", and then we have the results. Jackhammers and weird turns that doesn't make sense.

Same goes for VD Challenge, they should've removed that 480BPM death run and the jump in the last section, and then I'd be pleased. I normally tend to like when songs pack a punch difficulty wise, but when there are too many "gimmicks" in the chart... yeah.

The X-special charts I don't have that much problem with, save for Max 300 and maybe TLoM... and most jun boss songs are quite bland as well.

The worst stepchart I can think now is PARANOiA MAX (SMM Special). Also. I think all the Groove Radar Specials and the X-Specials are bad (except TRIP MACHINE CLIMAX X-Special, I love that chart Puppy Face)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Unbelievable Heavy is downright awful. I have people who try to convince me that it's an amazing chart. The "Spinning around" part is nice but the rest of it I think is just over charted like crazy.

There is only one truly bad chart.

Rescue Me Expert Double (DDRX3)

There are flow problems all over the place, but what's with the freeze pivot-turn footswitches after step 150 or so? Those take the cake

essentially still the worst in this thread

A Geisha's Dream remix gets special mention for having an actual chart for it be somehow worse than its original lazy copy.

Also Nu Flow, for stepping completely in 16ths for a 12th beat song, and having possibly the worst thing to ever feature in a 7 (an entire measure full of LRDR 16ths which are a- supposed to be 12ths and b- outrageously difficult). And Size of a Cow, which was a 12th beat song that started in 12ths, and then decided to shift into 16ths because they weren't used to the whole 'doing things properly' thing.

Charts are considered the worst based on some opinions, which I'm okay with.

However, due to the fact that it's broken as fucking hell, Uh La La La LightStandardHeavy is the worst. Also DEGRS.

If you can't beat them, join them.
I'm nominating "Electro Tuned(the SubS mix)" Heavy as one of the worst stepcharts/worst executions in DDR history. Everything about that chart is poorly done, and you can tell that the stepchart writers rushed through it to get to the other songs they needed to do. It's a shame too, cause the song is pretty decent (by TaQ standards). Definitely deserved better.

"five minute white boy challenge"
Before you go and throw Uh La La La as the worst step-chart, here's two more horrible charts that could easily take that crown:

DEAD END Groove Radar Special - All of the 'groove radar specials' are horrible, but this one's fucking ridiculous. Doesn't make any sense.
PARANOiA EVOLUTION -X-Special- - Most of all the 'X-Specials' are pretty bland and overly difficult as well, except for Max 300 for me. Even though I know people hate it.

These two suck. Badly.

Which reminds me of other songs that had the same problem as well; Matsuri Japan Heavy and Swing It Heavy, both songs that were stepped with 8ths (or 16ths) despite being 12th beat songs. Unlike other songs with the same problem (Healing-D-Vision), nothing was ever done with these. Swing It was omitted after 5thMIX (if I recall correctly) and Matsuri Japan was removed during X. So in other words, Konami COULD have fixed them, but went the cowardly way and removed them.

It wasn't cowardly: In Swing It's case, DDR MAX was a reboot to the series, after which all DanceMania songs formerly in the game were wiped out until a handful made it back in EXTREME, while the 5thMIX licenses were perhaps on a separate term that was perhaps like a Certificate of Deposit: They can stay in the series until [whenever], but if you pull them, they will not be renegotiated until [whenever] as a penalty, at which point KONAMI simply bucked the company and went for mainstream worldwide licensing. (Yes, I know a handful showed up in US and JP CS releases, but I believe they were licensed through parent companies. For example, MY GENERATION was through BEATDISASTER RECORDS and Neverending Story was negotiated through Warner Bros. Music)

As for MATSURI JAPAN, if I remember correctly, there was a licensing dispute with one of the samples used in the song, which is why not only the main version went, but also the J-SUMMER and NONSTOP MEGAMIX versions.

Anyway, back on topic: One of the charts I most despise is bag Heavy, no matter the version. It's not because of the gimmick necessarily, but the fact that they labeled it a boss solely on that status as opposed to the chart. If they hadn't pleased the score obsessed with the original version as the Challenge later on, I would've wished they had made a Challenge version back in EXTREME that actually took advantage of the nonstop streaming and even some of the faster trills the bagpipes provide.

I strongly agree that bag Heavy is a bad chart, but what I find worse is just the fact that it was classed as a 10. Using x3 or x5 brings the difficulty SO FAR down that it isn't even as hard as most 9s.

Here is a couple of charts I think are absolute crap

Dead End (Groove Radar Special) Challenge - This chart is just so unnecessary, It's a broken chart, but it's more of a joke more than an actual song so I can't really make this the worst one even though it should.

Electro Tuned Heavy - It's really off sync compared to other songs, it's like the steps don't go with the music like at all.

Flow (Jammin Reggae Mix) Heavy - Okay, this is more of my opinion but this chart is HORRID, it's a pain in the ass to say the least

Witch Doctor (Double Heavy ) - I've only played this one once, but this is another one of those horrid charts where it's off sync as hell.

And that was my thought of the day.
