"Just Play Along" |
None of the .sm files for AC DDR EXTREME and under contain their respective AC background videos (from DDR EXTREME2/STRIKE/etc.) in the correct timing. They either play at the very beginning (which is incorrect for most songs whose .sm start before the actual music now) or don't play at all. I ended up having to edit all the simfiles so that the background videos play correctly, and would be glad to share them if needed. All videos start at the same time as they do in the arcades, with StretchNoLoop added, and no additional changes have been made to the simfiles. The simfiles I'm referring to are:
1998
air
Be Lovin
Colors(for EXTREME)
Daikenkai
Happy Wedding
Heaven is a '57 metallic gray (gimmix)
La Bamba
L'amour et la liberte (DDR ver.)
Miracle Moon ~L.E.D.LIGHT STYLE MIX~
PARANOiA Survivor
PARANOiA Survivor MAX
Sakura
sync(EXTREME version)
TwinBee ~Generation X~
Afronova (From Nonstop Megamix)
Brilliant 2U (KOG G3 Mix)
Candy Heart
Sexy Planet (From Nonstop Megamix)
Sweet Sweet Love Magic
Afronova Primeval
Burnin' the Floor
Sexy Planet
Dynamite Rave
Brilliant 2U
PARANOiA
I will upload the .sm's with added video timing when I'm done, which will be shortly. They will be mapped for use with the videos in the DDR EXTREME2/STRIKE BGA folders in the Simfiles section. Hopefully these simfiles can be updated with the .sm's I will upload shortly.

Shouldn't HYNBM be in the "from Previous Releases" instead of "New Licenses" since HYNBM had been introduced in 1st mix?

"Battle Breaks" from Xbox Song Pack 3 has an offset of -2.207, but the signal starts at -2.182 using my wave editor. Is that kind of change useful? I can go through some of the older packs and propose bpm/offset changes if I find any.
What's the standard for syncing official songs? Are they always based on information in the original game, do they line up exactly with the start of the signal in the music file, or are they offset a few milliseconds from the start of the signal?
Looking through the rest of the thread, it looks like the ZIV policy is to use the official timings as ripped from the games instead of using more accurate timings, regardless of the source.
I understand the policy, especially considering it lets people have a more authentic arcade experience. At the same time, it would be very helpful to have a repository of accurate timings instead of official timings. I personally care more about the song feeling right instead of the song feeling the way it does in the arcade. As an example of an older song where the timing drifts, Abyss (5th mix) starts on sync and winds up 20ms or so offbeat by the end. It would be nice to have simfiles everyone can collaborate on which have errors like that fixed. Is there any possibility of including adjusted sync with the simfiles in addition to the official sync?

I'M FOR REAL's chart should have 16th notes instead of 4th notes during the freeze notes, around where the vocals start. Been so long's chart is two beats early, EGOISM 440's chart isn't appearing, and Over the Period's chart isn't appearing either.

Try to redownload the simfiles, delete your cache folder and open StepMania.
Get the I'm For Real simfile from the DDR SuperNova1 Arcade section, not the CS one.

You do not need to delete the cache. Just reload songs/cache.

^^ unless if fast load option was set to true, which is the default setting, that makes sense.

Current simfile of Been so long has still wrong beats. It should be 2 beats lately. Confirmed in PSX DDR 2nd Append Club Vol.2.
evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfH5UlIMWvg
Not only but also ALL difficulties.

Some .sm files need changes based on what's actually written in the songwheel:
FLASH IN THE NIGHT was never FLA♮H IN THE NIGHT.
AC evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Wi0RbSosps
CS evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xctH0pgGnvk
ever snow's artist was never written as ΨΦMA KΦMATSU.
AC evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNiHQl6zDj0
CS evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdpagobzakw
I'm aware they're from the StepMania transliteration file and honestly I don't know why those changes are there; they aren't even official.

A lot of old Tournamix files were put into the official transliteration file for some reason. Maybe that's why those are there, too?

@razorblade I had downloaded the arcade version of I'm for Real. Luckily, been so long was fixed, and I managed to delete the cache, so now I'm getting EGOISM 440 and Over The Period too.

PARANOiA MAX (CLUB VER.) has several issues. To clear things up (rather than making a rude, pointless complaint), I'm going to state the following on the PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB VER.)s
There are three names for three line up of two charts and two MP3s.
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB VER.) features it's own MP3 and the following banner style (I'm sorry everyone. I don't have a dropbox account so I'm using my fan made banners that are uploaded here instead. I also learned about this this summer after posting the fan made banners)
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER.) shares the same step charts as PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB VER.) but has a different MP3 than PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB VER.) and features this style banner:
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER. 2) shares the same MP3 as PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER.) but has a different step chart than PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB VER.) and PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER.). Even though DDRMAX -USA- has a song and step chart labeled as PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER. 2), its real steap chart is PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER.) as shown by the videos below. PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER. 2) features this style banner:
Here are some videos I found online to support facts above:
PARANOiA MAX (CLUB VER.) - DDR 2nd APPEND CLUB VER. vol.2 (PSX)
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VERSION) - DDR 2nd APPEND CLUB VER. vol.2 (PSX)
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VERSION) - DDRMAX -USA-
PARANOiA MAX ~DIRTY MIX~ (CLUB ANOTHER VER. 2)

IIRC the only way to get Ver. 2 was to land on or hit it on Roulette. If any thing it should have been called Club Version in Roulette or Club Another Version in Roulette. To each their own I guess
I realized why no one is going to fix my request. its for fixing the game data base and not for Official Simfile Errors. So I do apologize for it. I just didn't think that creating a new thread for it was needed, so I decided to put it here, but now realizing it was a dumb idea.

It was already mentioned a long while back on the particular simfile thread, but the sm file for Yellow Candy on X2 has a ESP and EDP rating of a 13, when is should be a 14. It was originally rated a 13 on X2, but it was rerated to a 14 by either X3 or 2013. It is rated correctly on the ZiV website though.

Just clicked on the sm. Despite the comments that it was updated, the ratings in question are still incorrect.
