DDR CD Jackets/Covers Recreation Thread

I thought the first one was good.

I'm not completely against using the real album/single covers as an alternative though.

Something I did notice with many licensed songs (especially Western songs) in recent games is that they always use the ALBUM cover and not the song's more than likely available SINGLE cover...resulting in reused album covers for multiple songs.

Yeah, I was trying to be consistent with that. Hence the dilemma we run into with the SMILE.dk songs I mentioned last page. The only other example I can give are the 2 Bobby Brown songs that debuted on HP3 and DDR SuperNOVA2 US. Both songs come from his 'My Prerogative' album, but the actual album cover was used in HP3. That being the case, I'm thinking use the actual album cover for 'My Prerogative' and the 'Every Little Step' single cover for SuperNOVA2 US.

I also ran into this looking at Bambee, 2 UNLIMITED, and PAPAYA songs.

I know the two Duran Duran licenses from HP3 and 2010 (Hungry Like The Wolf/Rio) use the Rio cover.

There's also two Natasha Bedingfield songs from those two games that use the same cover.

True. Hmm... Well, we'll just have to split 'em up. One will use the album, the other will use the single, whichever people like more, unless one didn't have a single in which case the graphics pros can work their magic.

Yeah...don't know why they couldn't make it more distinguishable. Considering that Hungry Like The Wolf is on the album "Rio"

Nicely done, Tyma! Almost done with the first 3 mixes as the remaining ones don't have jackets I can find from HI-RISE, JOGA, JENNIFER, and definitely not E-ROTIC.

I think Rage* made them a loooong time ago. Last Thing On My Mind is literally just a photograph of the screen (you can see the scanlines) ^^;

All 3 songs have decent CD Single art to work with, though!

Hold on a sec everyone, you may be misunderstanding what's going on. Many of these backgrounds are actual licenses and have artist jackets available. I've already found the ones for PAPAYA, BAMBEE, and a few others. There are some here that I definitely can use, like HI-RISE and a couple others since they don't have original artist releases, so thanks for those.

As a side note, in a couple hours or so, I'm gonna finish up 1st-3rd MIX and post up what's needed for 4th, 5th, and maybe SOLO/BASS. As it stands now, I believe the first 3 mix jackets are done. Good work all...though the hard stuff is yet to come. :-p

P.S. Since a couple people stated they prefer the 1st jacket for LET'S GET DOWN / JT PLAYAZ (the red & yellow one), I'll use that one for the pack.

All righty peoples, the first 3 MIXes are complete. Please chime in with things you feel should be changed, or if you have an alternate jacket you've found that you think looks better

Unless someone REALLY wants to put some work in to clean up E-ROTIC's album jackets, we can only use GIMME GIMME GIMME (which I found), and MAMBO NO. SEX for OH NICK PLEASE NOT SO QUICK for the actual songs. All of their other jackets are MUCH too much. If you want a challenge to clean 'em up, then I'll give 'em to you in PM to do your magic. Same goes for a couple of CAPTAIN JACK's album covers, but E-ROTIC is sooooo much more risque. *LOL*

Anyway, as you see from the first post, these are the jackets found, and the rest will just use cropped bgs. If you wish to add the artist name to the bgs to use as the jackets, then that's fine, take your time to polish 'em up. I'll start up compiling and finding stuff for 4th and 5th mixes. So review these jackets and lemme know opinions.

*sigh* Using the actual artist jacket is just an option. Of course these are gonna be low quality, given these things were printed years ago. What I had already thought about doing was getting all current bgs cropped and zipped for al2k4, as well as these we're working on. People will have the option to customize SM however they wish... Calm down folks.

A second project thread based on the idea of cropping backgrounds would be a good idea. Then people have the choice. I just prefer the idea of bg crops as it still has the nostalgia factor for the older songs and the design aesthetic is (fairly) consistent. I get why using CD jackets makes sense, but in terms of arcade accuracy, anything pre-x should just have a cropped bg/original graphics. So a second thread for those would be a good idea :-)
