It's a good effort, but I think it's a bit too cramped to look nearly as impressive as Couple edits. On top of that, players can't swap positions without changing which arrow set they're following, since the freeze arrows need to divide the left and right arrow set. I think that the concept has potential, though

On a somewhat unrelated note, is there an archive of Max-era couple charts anywhere?

Hmm, potential indeed.. I've been looking at different couple edits lately and this is an interesting idea Tongue I'll give it a try next time me and my friends are at an X2 Happy

The only thing I'd like to see now is a way for the 3 players to switch around like in other couple edits, but since there's 2 sets of normal notes and 1 set of freeze arrows, I'm not sure how that'd work out. I know if it was ITG you could probably use short rolls or something for the third player, but for DDR, you might have make it so players change the set of arrows they follow when they see a certain jump/pattern.

Anyway, I'm hoping to see more edits like this, I'd definitely give some of them a try Happy

My couples charts have a lot more side switching and DayDay in Taiwan has quite a few. Honestly the 3 person chart was as a "there's 3 people on the screen and I wonder if it's even possible." Coordinate spins, having them jump off with the characters, etc, etc was just a fun project that was amazing to actually execute somewhat successfully. I will admit though, it's a one time novelty for us Smile
