So can jackets only be used with these new SSC files?
As nice as this theme is I think I might stick with 3.9 for a bit longer until things become a bit more standardised. Once it's possible to have a proper cover-flow-esque theme in 5 like DDRX2 AC, I'm there.
SSC files are not necessary to have jacket files work; the jacket files will work as long as they are named properly (as stated by AeronPeryton at the beginning of the second page). As nice as this theme is I think I might stick with 3.9 for a bit longer until things become a bit more standardised. Well then is there a specific size they have to be? I tried twice and neither time worked. The second time I renamed a 500x500 JPG file to Jacket, reloaded songs/courses several times and nothing happened. I've also had issues with my videos because one wouldn't appear when I played the file. I'll have to double check that though.
EDIT: Got it working for .59 by coping over the 256x256 jacket and naming it .59, thus negating the banner which I REALLY didn't want to do because it might interfere with 3.9, but even resizing the jacket for the one I've been trying to get working to the same size and naming it in the same fashion won't work. I'm sorry if I'm just an idiot for trying simple things and them not working, but this is just silly and frustrating.
Naming anything Jacket nor -jk is working for me.
What I want: A really simple way to add jackets as their own element so that I can use them alongside the banners.
What I'm getting: A headache.

As far as he's concerned, everything involving StepMania themes is somehow copied and taken from him.

typically, jackets are going to be found in 256x256 or 512x512. If that doesn't work you're having some other kind of problem.

Looking at the source code, "jk_*", "*jacket*", and "*albumart*" are what Stepmania 5 searches for in the filename, and if the * has to replace at least one character, then none of the things you're trying would fit, so try one of those.
EDIT: Also, I don't know if it's case sensitive, but the source code has it as all lowercase.

So apparently files HAVE to be in png format? Why did nobody mention that?
Still no idea if I can get jackets to work. We'll see.

Last I checked, StepMania wasn't too picky about image format.

Then why did a jpg file not work, but a png file work just fine? This is really confusing.
EDIT: Nothing works except naming it to the same as the banner and it being in png format. Not sure why.
I've about given up at this point though. Thanks for the help everyone but I might stick with 3.9 for now. Shame, I really love the idea of jackets.

There was a time where auto-searching for simfile graphics was broken (on alpha 1), so maybe it was a side effect of that, since pngs are higher priority than jpgs. Besides, pngs are mostly better quality, so there's no reason to use jpgs unless you're really trying to cut down on space usage.

Well it's just because it's what I had on hand to test the other file. I use png by default.
Actually I think I might be using alpha 1 still. Nobody mentioned that it might be that and that there was a new version. Let me double check.

I just did some tests. If there is no .ssc file to tell StepMania specifically what to do, it will load as long as the file is named "jacket". This works for any image size, any supported image format (PNG, JPEG, GIF).
> StepMania 5 alpha 2, waiei alpha 0.032 + 0.032 add

Updated to Alpha 2. Still not working, even with "jacket" as the name. I think I'll give up for now. I'm obviously far too much of an idiot to get this working. Thanks anyway.

Yes. I had videos on my Youtube that could have told you that
I asked jindev (sillybear) your question on YouTube. Did I do something wrong?

Has anyone tried running the theme NOT on event mode, but just regular arcade style with "x" amount of songs per play?
The theme keeps crashing whenever you finish your set, after the final evaluation screen. The crash logs aren't consistent as to where the error is occurring. Sometimes it's line 176 on "Music Wheel Select Normal.lua" returning a nil value.

There's a mistake in that screen's metrics. If you go into metrics.ini, find ScreenEvaluationSummary, and then change "Branch.AfterSummary" to "Branch.AfterSummary()", it won't crash.

How might you add a Groove Radar? Mine doesn't show up. I mean the radar does, but it's not plotted or anything. It's blank.

maybe it will be fixed in beta version (which will be released in 27th) as the groove radar metrics was changed in SM5a3

I'm still confused about Boss Folder's system. I already put group.ini in the Boss Folder and although I AA-FC'd the Extra Stage, I can't go to the Encore Extra Stage.
