Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale [PS3/VITA] (Out Oct. 23rd)

So, remember those rumors about how Sony was thinking of trying to compete with Super Smash Bros. by releasing their own "party-fighting" game that included Sony characters?

It's real and it's happening.

But in all seriousness, Parappa in a fighting game has been the best argument in favor of getting a PS3 I've seen in some time. Hopefully he and this game do not disappoint.

I'm glad there's some positivity about this game from you guys (Kotaku and pretty much everywhere is seeming with fanboyism-butthurt), I for one am not jumping in this JUST yet, more than likely going to wait until they do a much in-depth reveal/look when E3 rolls around...

I think, so far, one of the best things i've seen from this game is the interchanging background arena's, not JUST how it looks, but how it mixes PS titles into one arena (I think my favorite one, looking at it now is the LBP + Buzz arena).

Honestly I'm more excited to see who will join this game then I am to see who the new fighters will be in the new Smash Bros. Also with Sony having a chance to grab some better 3rd party people, I could really see someone like Cloud or Snake making the list.

Sony's IPs are all over the place. Some of their characters are just too brutal (Kratos) to be put along softer characters like Sly Cooper or Sackboy, and furthermore, I don't think some of them are truly THAT memorable to be put in a game like this. Even Microsoft (the youngest of the big three) has a better roster of IPs that could work in a Smash Bros-like setting (Rareware. Period.)

Well it used to be back in the PS1/PS2 days, but now it got bought out by Activision, BUT REMEMBER, third party characters being part of the roster makes it that much better of a chance of Crash being in the game, even if it is now Activision.
