The Konami building in Roppongi appears to be on fire [photos]

It doesn't appear to be a fire, I've read multiple twitter accounts that say nothing is wrong and everyone is fine.

I've also tried looking up any news sources in Japan picking up on this and no one has, so I'd say there's nothing to be concerned about. The first pictures were posted about four hours ago and you can bet the Japanese press would have picked up on this by now. According to the person who snapped these photos, it appears to be some sort of "water vapor", which is believable considering that the color of the smoke seems to be inconsistent with a fire.

That's a hell of a ploom for water vapor. Maybe a radiator exploded? If there's nothing wrong, then nothing's wrong... which is fine by me.

Also it's Roppongi at night. I don't know if you've ever been there but I have and there is a sinful amount of light pollution. And I can tell from that second pic that it's making everything, including the vapor, look far brighter than it really is.

In any event, if the building was/is on fire, we'd be hearing more about it. Essentially what happened is someone captured some pictures of some mysterious smoke that appeared to be coming from the building and people jumped to conclusions.

I haven't tried reading the original tweets but I haven't seen anyone jump to conclusions. It appears to be smoke from a fire in both pics, which is what Kotaku (and I) said. They're trying to get a response from Konami now because whatever it is it sure looks like it came from one of the top floors, or even the roof, of their building.

Of course the comments on Kotaku have shopped pictures of Hideo Kojima using a bong to dream up the next Metal Gear title, and so on...

They were testing the first 20-footer DDR chart and the machine exploded.
