I've already made an on-sync KICK THE CAN script and verified it, and I am looking to getting around to getting the three movies required for it; frog2r, sun3r, and film2r.

Im not cool at scripting songs, but i want all my ddr songs with videos O.ó so i started to scripting songs watching videos on youtube of the original bg of the songs. i started with Boys (EURO MIX) of ddr 4th mix ( youtube.com/watch?v=M8vpbfte4mU )
I tried to make this very similar to the original bg, but i dont have some videos or sometimes the shit are bganimations.
I can swear that the timing in the videos is the correct e.e. I dont speak english very well, i hope that u can understand the shit that im talkin about Cx

Im scripting more songs, maybe there are not the same as the original, but i repeat, with the correct timing u can change it for the original vid...maybe u can help me to get more vids e.e see ya

I used to have a BGScript for Boy Euro Mix, but I lost it. However, I made a stepfile for the extended version of the song... with BG changes to match it.

Here's a list of the videos I KNOW it used. Not sure what version it was replicating, but it seemed to match the music exactly, and I only ever got scripts from a few sources, mainly Amy from DDR:UK.

Blizzard1.avi
ring12.avi
Ring5.avi
Bricks1.avi
Ribbon1.avi
Colors1.avi
Girl1.avi

I'd post more of my scripts, but a bunch of them are no longer in sync. If people are willing to look them over and perhaps adjust them, let me know. I do wish that we had the resources to emulate more in Stepmania, like Shooting Star and Follow The Sun (90 In The Shade Mix).

These are the movies you report using.

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/blizzard1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ring12.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ring5.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/bricks1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ribbon1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/colors1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/girl1.jpg

Here is the trick to sync BGMovies (I learned this from SpyHunter29);

You must have beware's 2013 pack. His 2005 pack will not work.

Let's try syncing this one.

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ribbon1.jpg

Videos at normal speed are 30fps and run at 80 frames, and are 2.667 seconds long, whereas 80 / 30 = 2.667. Assuming they run for eight beats, 8 / (2.667 / 60) = 180 beats per minute.

So what do we do to actually sync the videos? It's easy. Simply divide the song's BPM by 90.

BOYS (EURO MIX) has a fixed BPM of 155.307 (changing a tiny bit during measures 91 and 92). So to set Ribbon1 at that BPM, it has to go at 1.726x speed.

Quote
15.750=ribbon1.avi=1.726=0=0=1,

You can do this for the following movies too;

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/blizzard1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ring5.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/bricks1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/colors1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/girl1.jpg

And then there's this movie.

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ring12.jpg

...but... Uh-oh. This movie actually goes faster than 90 BPM automatically.

How do we sync THIS pesky one?

Well, 30 (raw video framerate) x 3 = 90 (bpm raw videos go at). Ring12 goes at 50 fps. So what if we divide the song BPM by 150?

Quote
23.750=ring12.avi=1.035=0=0=1,

1.035 is the speed Ring12 has to go at.

So that's how to go at your script for syncing movies. But what if you made a custom one with, say, Bear4?

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/bear4.jpg

The problem with this is that there is an unrounded framerate to this movie. You'd assume it's 42, but it actually has 3 subdigits. It's actually 42.530. For fool-proof accuracy, you'd have to divide the song BPM by 42.530. Bear4 being synced in BOYS would be 1.217x. Additionally, to get it playing at the default speed (90 BPM), it has to play at 0.705x.

How do I know the exact frame rate is 42.530?

I use Sony Vegas to check the framerate of a movie;

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/hB-JnKoPVmdfPSbLihcbDmWIgeTiWTYV_3v5TlxNvzZf1wVrCzHdfoU_YvySyrisiHcHJWGLEaRo1WQlAZB-5K7FFGF45SSnhB0mCVyz9YJP7y43deq4QFegLgBAr0GzuQ

Whereas Windows would only say 42, Sony Vegas reveals the decimal numbers it doesn't. There are certainly other programs that can check the exact frame rate. As long as you can find it, it's good.

Life would be easier if all of the movies were 30 fps, but beware insists EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of his 2013 pack is symmetrical, down to the exact names, same number of frame (unless the movie can safely be improved, like Circle5) and odd speeds. I don't blame him, it'd take a month to fix all of the scripts we have if they had new names. (But...let's face it. Most of the scripts already have messy playback speeds as they are... ^.^;)

By the way, here's the script for BOYS EURO MIX;

https://web.archive.org/web/20050117093522/ http://ollec2004.ddruk.com/BG_Changes/Scripts/BGCN/BOYS%20(EURO%20MIX)%20(BGCN).script

Holy hell, that's helpful... and a lot of math.

I have almost a complete set of tested 6th mix scripts to share as thanks. I don't see any obvious syncing errors in them. Tested using the newest Zenius I Vanisher packs.

It would take a bit to post them, so I'll zip up the .sm files for anyone that wants them

Scripts that would be missing- YOZORA NO MUKO, Fantasy, LOVIN' YOU (ROB SEARLE CLUB MIX).

http://depositfiles.com/files/quu3gtql7

I have a bunch of others too, but that's the most complete and on-sync mix.

Hey there, happened to stumble upon the old school BG scripts you guys have been posting. They look pretty cool in Stepmania; I'm always a sucker for how the BG Videos looked in DDR 4th Mix and 5th Mix, though...

Anyway, I decided to look at some of the "unofficial" BG scripts for songs that didn't survive into the Max-Max2-Extreme era. While some work nicely, I'm having trouble with some that were scripted on songs from DDR 1st and 2nd Mix. Whenever I play them in-game, they don't start playing their scripts until much later on in the tune. I tried playing around with the syncing in the .sm file, but they always seem to start at the same spot later in the chart. I think it's because the songs back then would have an extended intro before the actual chart started, and therefore their timing is off in some way. This only pertains to six tunes I found in the "BG Change Nation" folder on DDRUK, at this link: https://web.archive.org/web/20051221141920/http://ollec2004.ddruk.com/BG_Changes/bgcn.html specifically Have You Never Been Mellow, Kung Fu Fighting, My Fire, Strictly Business, Bad Girls and Boom Boom Dollar. The others that I found in that folder (that don't lead to 404 messages, at least) all work fine.

How should I get these scripts to work? Am I missing something in the .sm file that I need to change in order to set the sync right? Thanks in advance!

I bet there's a different .mp3 file used now. You'd have to find the old OFFSET or GAP and the new OFFSET or GAP then change all of the BGVideo times accordingly... Or find the old .mp3's which I probably have.

I found these on the web archive a few days ago. I also had to mess around in the sm file.
So we'll take My Fire. I found out where the video was suppose to start through trial and error, and fixed each BG Change from that. (-16 beats)
Original
#BGCHANGES:24.000=Heart3.avi
My SM file
#BGCHANGES:8.000=Heart3.avi

If you're already doing this, make sure to Reload Songs/Courses in the oprions menu. Should work then.

Sweet, that did the trick; thanks much! Now all I need to do is change the script around and they should all line up correctly...

IF YOU WERE HERE (B4 ZA BEAT MIX) (DDR 4thMix Script)
Awesome.

Here's a custom MAX-EXTREME type script for "Hyena." I've got a few more customs, but since that's not the main focus, I'll only post them after I write some more official scripts.

I've read the whole thread, and I've not seen this mentioned, so:

Ripped Official MAX ~ EXTREME Era Background Videos & Scripts

The movies already come with a script, but I can't tell if they're accurate as I haven't checked them. Aeron was to rip music videos from other CS games. He only went as far as this, sadly. Also, great job everyone. I'll share my stuff later.

EDIT: These are some videos from the DS series I've edited to the frame. I did this in Vegas with both the original file, and a capture from the game itself.

All That She Wants (DS Fever)
Come Into My World (DS Fusion)
Mickey (DS Fusion) [this is an official rip from DS Fusion AC. Don't ask me where I found this; I have no idea]
Virtuality (DS Fever)
Wannabe (DS Fever)

Thank you soo much for all of these. I've been looking for the MAX2-EXTREME music videos in original quality since forever, and with a bit of tweaking I got them all synced up properly.
And now I get to start my quest of getting all of my DS packs scripted. Thanks for the hard work.

Also does anyone have the Enter the Dragon EXTREME:USA exclusive videos by chance? haha.

You think you can grab the 3 exclusive movies in Rapper's Delight?

Also, Aeron disappeared from the internet, and so, that thread has been dead since May 2013. He DID contact me a couple of times in 2014, though. And the thing is, I want to know the original names of these movies;

The only thing I know so far is that they all share 3 letters; "ps???a". However, I went into the name directory of a DDR Extreme iso and there are more than 8 "ps????" items, so...

I honestly have no clue on how to rip MJPEGs from CS games, nor arcade data (which I don't have either). Sorry about that.
Aw, that's kind of sad to hear. That project was really something; I wish I would've been completed.

From which game were those taken? Afaik, all movies' names started with a "j" in arcade files. Unless you're talking about CS movie files...

Well, they technically do come from the arcade, but...

Quote
Videos 11 through 18 are special. They were not in the same location as the rest of the videos, instead they were packed into another file that had programming data and as a result were simply fragments of code that pkgingo extracted out. Videos 11 ~ 18 are from 7thMIX.

Unfortunately, he lost all of his data before he could get the names of those movies. I never DID get the proper names, he said they were "ps****" but then he never responded again.

However, I think I might know 14 potential names that could go with them.

So, the thing is, I downloaded a DDRMAX USA iso. I'm too scared to actually try to run it since my computer might break, but I found this file, "SLUS_204.37", and when I open it in notepad, I can see all of the names of the movies. Pretty neat... if you can figure out which movies are which;

"pscdda pscddb pscita psdiza psfloa psflob pshara psharb pskcoa pskina pskisa pskisb pskkia psklia psklib psktia pskwha psmaxa psmira psmirb pspuka psrasa psrasb psshaa pssila pssnoa pssnob pssqua pssqub pssquc pssqud pssque pssrha psdizb pswoma pswomb "

...36 ambiguous items. However...

Quote
Between the four mixes covered by this release there has been zero overlap in file names so they must have come from a single, curated source. Between 7thMIX and EuroMIX 2 there were a number of videos that got renamed though. They were assigned a new subgroup for... whatever reason. However the source names and the destination names of the affected files still have zero crossover. The names of the videos in the download represent the most recent name Konami used.

One such movie is "psharb". It's really "jrharb", which is this movie; http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/blinds1.jpg

You may notice that jrhara is missing. You may also notice the similar movie (http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/blinds2.jpg) isn't in Aeron's pack, but is in Beware's pack. So that has to mean this is pshara.

So when I max out all of the similar So In Love/Kind Lady movies...

"pscdda pscddb pscita psfloa psflob pskcoa pskina pskisa pskisb pskkia psklia psklib pskwha psmaxa pspuka psrasa psrasb pssqua pssqub pssquc pssqud pssque pssrha pswoma pswomb "

...that still leaves 25 movies. However, there is a certain movie...

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/square5.jpg

That, when played at 30 fps, is actually 5x as long as most movies. And since it's basically a bunch of squares/rectangles, it has to be "pssqu*".

"pscdda pscddb pscita psfloa psflob pskcoa pskina pskisa pskisb pskkia psklia psklib pskwha psmaxa pspuka psrasa psrasb pssrha pswoma pswomb "

This is as far as I can go. My guess is that the 8 movies are in here, but also the 5 other Kind Lady movies (KL1-KL5) also have to be in here, as the only KL movie in Aeron's pack (KL6) is psktia/jrktia. Additionally, I am worried these following movies are stuck in here too, as they don't appear in Aeron's pack and are either used very frequently with the JR/PS movies or are extremely ambiguous in what group of movies they are used in;

*colors1
*colors4
*lady20
*max3
*nyc1
*sphere4a
*sphere4b

Let's lay out all of the movies we haven't found.

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/star2b.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/geometry1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/heart1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/wheel1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/tunnel2.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/fire1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/ribbon2.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/stairs1.jpg

Left to right top row; star2, geometry1, heart1, wheel1
Left to right bottom row; tunnel2, fire1, ribbon2, stairs1

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/kl1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/kl2.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/kl3.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/kl4.jpg
http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/kl5.jpg

Left to right top row; kl1, kl2, kl3, kl4

Bottom row; kl5

http://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/colors1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/colors4.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/lady20.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/max3.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/nyc1.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/sphere4.jpghttp://ddr.bircd.org/vidthumbs/sphere4.jpg

Left to right top row; colors1, colors4, lady20, max3
Left to right bottom row; nyc1, sphere4 (two 80 frame parts)

However, I've found yet another clue; Out of all of these, colors1 is the only one to make it onto DDR Extreme USA, so I downloaded an iso of that, went into the similar file, "SLUS_209.16", and I indeed found pscdda in there. So that means colors1 is pscdda/jrcdda and colors4 is pscddb/jrcddb.

"pscita psfloa psflob pskcoa pskina pskisa pskisb pskkia psklia psklib pskwha psmaxa pspuka psrasa psrasb pssrha pswoma pswomb "

The only way to determine the others are how much their 3 letter name can make sense.

I am suspicious sphere4 (which is really a video of rotating circles with flowers on them, one normal, the other with a sparkle effect) is psfloa. "flo" is likely to mean "flower" and there are two cuts of it (floa and flob).

Then there's a video called "psmaxa". max3, hence it's name, has the letters 'M', 'A', and 'X' flickering in order 5-6 times. So that's what this video might be too.

And then I notice "pscita". nyc1 is basically a slideshow of four city pictures.

"pskcoa pskina pskisa pskisb pskkia psklia psklib pskwha pspuka psrasa psrasb pssrha pswoma pswomb "

The 8 DDRMAX2 videos in the top group are all unique, so we could try taking off all of the movies that end in 'b' and their 'a' counterparts;

"pskcoa pskina pskkia pskwha pspuka pssrha "

But that leaves 6 movies. We need 8. So doing that is a no go, there's at least one group (kis, kli, ras, or wom, probably not wom) that shares two movies. (Because of their constant switching places, I think star2 and heart1 are the movies in question.)

So here's one more thing I can try; Since none of the KL movies or lady20 appear in DDR Extreme USA, I could use that to determine the 8 names the movies I'm interested in have...right?

Well... I tried that. But guess what? None of kco/kin/kis/kki/kli/kwh/puk/ras/srh/wom are in there. Instead, I guess this mess;

Yep. Apparently, these movies (ne, mp, of, on, sh, we, ki, mo, and ra) have SO MANY cuts they have to be 2-letter names so that 'az' can turn into 'ba'. My guess is that they are for the songs with music videos like Your Rain.

So yeah, I can't go any further than this, I can only take wild guesses that might turn out to be false.

I wish I could solve this puzzle so I can know ALL of the official names for every DDR movie. I'm trying to figure out if some of those videos (like fire1/stairs1) are part of a group called "js", but it's impossible to tell.

This was the last ever thing he posted, as far as I recall;

BlockyShinx: Do videos 11-18 from your old pack have names? Did you ever find them out?

--

AeronPeryton: No, they did not. They were frames extracted from the CARD.DAT file if I remember correctly. Since there were multiple "videos" in CARD.DAT, each video was simply assigned a number starting with 1, in the order they were extracted.

I suppose you could technically call them card 1, card 2, card 3...

--

BlockyShinx: Did you find them in the console releases somehow?

--

AeronPeryton: Oh yeah! I forgot that they are named when they appear on the console. Before I lost all the data on my old drive I was writing a big update to the MotionJPEG thread that explained it. Basically, they had the same naming format but started with ps****. But I don't have that data anymore.

Determining the names of the videos was really hard, because the file headers were stored in another file than that video data. The header list behaved a lot like the song master list that's found in all the games. The list includes things that aren't actually in that game. If you want to find the info, take an extracted PS2 game and start loading all the files into a hex editor. Then do a search for one of the MJPEG file names for a video you know is used in that mix and it should lead you to the list.

Then later PS2 games had other sets of videos with odd names and started to overlap old names too. The last game to use MotionJPEG videos (DDR STR!KE) has a small set of videos that start with zz. And includes videos that aren't used in-game... I don't think, I never got to fully verify all the games' background scripts.

I recently downloaded all the MotionJPEG data again. If I find the time and remember the procedure I might try to recompile the archive. We'll see what happens.

...unfortunately, I don't think that ever happened. :/
