With critical success of NBA Jam On Fire Edition, I can't wait to see what EA can do with the resurrection of NFL Blitz.
1/3/12 BUMP: BUMP for the release date.
Game is coming in North America tomorrow, January 4th. I'm going to download the LIVE Arcade version when it comes out.
1/4/12 BUMP
-----
First Impressions of EA's Blitz
-----
Pros
-----
* Faithful to Midway's arcade versions of Blitz. Not a perfect replica, but close.
* Lots of unlockables
* Cheats can still be provided pre-game
* Great sound and fluid framerate
Cons
-----
* Can't do late hits (*sob*)
* Slower gameplay (because you can't snap immediately after selecting a play)
* 2 GB download might cause issues to lesser connections
* I haven't tested this online, though I heard about some weird lag in the PSN version
I'm going to try Elite League some time later for some impressions on this, but I'm going to give this a 4 out of 5 so far. It doesn't deserve a 5 because it didn't exactly replicate the old Blitz experience, but fans of the franchise will still be happy with EA bringing it back after Midway closing the doors.
More updates: IGN got their hands on Blitz, giving it an 8.5 out of 10. So far, this is the only review from a major company at this time.
1/5/12 BUMP: Bad news for European players - it's North America-only.

I now have zero interest in this game.
