It doesn't happen often, but I always look at them and say "Didn't you parent teach you it's rude to ask for something that isn't yours?". Walk awaaay. I even saw one kid who has asked me already run interference on another kid trying to do the same thing. Something like "Dude, you don't wanna do that."

Last week I was playing on the usual SuperNOVA cab and some random girl (around 15 I'd say) and her friend came right up to the cab mid-game, stood on either side of the machine and started asking me a shitload of random questions and tried to keep a conversation going with me WHILE I played. It was really quite irritating xD

[kids asking for tokens]
Gah. I hear you. Thankfully, this has only happened to me directly once, but I've seen it quite a bit to others.
The one time it happened to me, it was these unattended 12 year olds wearing makeup factories, in a tiny mall arcade. From what I could tell from hearing between songs, they somewhat acted how you'd expect them to act: a bit on the spoiled side. I was playing DDR there (RIP Aladdin's Castle SN1), and they came in, played a couple games and pretty much blew through what they had very quickly, so they started asking around.
After about five minutes of asking the other five people in the arcade for tokens, they came up to me while I was playing and asked me for some. When I realized they were talking to me, I ignored them at first; mostly because I was playing some higher-level songs and needed the concentration. When I finished, I politely told them I didn't have any (which was true; I used my last on playing DDR), they put some token effort into asking me a couple more times, then when they realized I may be telling the truth, I believe they left.

It's funny when they put 20 dollars worth for tokens and waste it in 5 minutes.

Once when I was at Brunswick, there was a birthday party going (teens), and I was playing DDR Supernova. Some of them decided that it would be fun to mess me up by putting their foot on the back arrow. I ignored them for a bit, but then after a while, I yelled at them to stop. I can't remember if they did or not, but anyways, teens can be much more annoying than children because their intents are evil (kinda).
That fricken happened to me while i was playing Nova2 waiting for a furmeet in chemside but the teens were random 'cool' kids sort, really annoying.

I learned the hard way to NEVER play at Wright's Hollywood Park in Crestwood. The little kids running all over the machine is one thing, but the complete lack of caring their parent's show is another. And as someone who frequents HP and the Brunswick Zone near my house, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I believe it's a race thing. I get more shit from the parents of niglets who like to press the song select button while I'm tying my shoe than I've ever gotten from any other race. I actually had a parent jump down my throat for telling her son (for the 8th time) to stay away from the machine. Then had the fucking nerve to threaten to "call management" on me when I requested that she watch her own fucking kids. When that didn't work, some meathead douchebag she was with said he "had something for me" later. =_= I don't play at Wright's much anymore.......

I HATE it when people talk to me DURING a song I play on DDR (or any music game for that matter). It really annoys me and loses my focus. I'm like, "Helloooo! Don't you see me trying to concentrate?" That's the same for those who intentionally mess me up too. I hate that even worse!

Also hate it when you have to stop to tie your shoes because they Somehow always come undone, even if you double knot it. that leaves you and the machine open to be harassed by some little kid or something >.>
And i notice the harassment from little kids and other people is might more higher in non Asian countries or areas of cites. Seems all us asians get along and respect other players [Or at least more so than western people from what ive seen/experienced]

Never seen an African-American play DDR before. :3
[No race offence intended from anything said if any is taken]

I've been quite lucky when it comes to playing DDR at the arcade. All the kids I encountered had parents that were very polite and responsible.
The worst I ever had were these two girls that asked me and my friend if we had any tokens and we said no (lol big lie). They just hovered around the machines behind the cabinet after we told them, but it wasn't annoying though.
Although I know I am bound to eventually run into something eventually. The world has a plentiful amount of jerks

None at all. To be honest, the only other black male I've ever seen play DDR (seriously, I mean) was Wolfen.

One of my closest friends from middle school is black, and he, his cousin, and I usually played DDR quite a lot. Of course, that was when we were both racing to pass Max 300 .

The amusing thing is, I don't really have many problems with the smaller children. Usually I can just glare at them and they get the point. On the other hand, it seems that all of the obnoxious high school girls annoy me instead. I've had panels stepped on, I've been asked for french fries (in an arcade that doesn't have food) and money, I've been yelled at, and I have even had one who decided that the side of the pad I was using was a high school dance and began to dance as such.
Ugh. Do not want. And they don't go away, no matter what I say.
@The above conversation: On a side note, I've seen a fairly even distribution of races in my time playing.

Aside from tying shoes in between stages (with the high chances of a random oblivious kid pressing the START button), the most ANNOYING that happened to me was:
Having the shoelaces untie by itself in the MIDDLE of a stage
Especially if it's MAX 300 or MAXX UNLIMITED ... Happened to me, but still passed
(Im)Moral lesson: Don't play DDR wearing shoes with laces unless you have the risk.

Not really disrupting, but I was at a convention in Hoboken, NJ last year, and while I was playing on a Stepmania setup they had there, my girlfriend called me. I decided to answer the phone mid-song (A ). Despite talking to her while playing, I barely passed only because I'm not used to playing on Cobalt Flux pads, especially without the arcade mod.

I remember a couple of summers ago when I was at Sunsplash in Roseville, and I was playing on a poorly-maintained SN2(at the time the pads were a bit sticky, the speakers were pretty much done with life and the screen flickered every so often.) I was playing Himawari on double , and then suddenly this little kid walked on the pad while I was on the 1P side. I panicked and screamed at him to move before I can move to the other pad but he did not listen, and then BAM.
The good news: His parents weren't there to yell at me/assault me, and he did not return, probably learning his lesson to NOT EVER get in the way of a DDR player whenever they are present on a machine.
The bad news: He got a bloody toe, held back a few tears, and I momentarily feared that said parents would kill me Also, I felt that reeeeeealllly sickeningly stab of guilt afterwards
And thats the end of one of my spectator stories.
