Why not make a video recording of bg in avi form (preferably 640x480 in 16:9 pixel ratio)? This will not slow our pc.
remember, lua driven bg + jackets in music wheel items = slow music select screen.

You know... if I had the resources, I'd gladly work out something with Konami or just take over every machine in the country since Konami USA doesn't show much promise at the moment.

Well there's about 6 hours left in 2012 and unfortunately nothing is close to being ready so I'm changing the release date to TBA instead of an actual day/year because I'm not sure what's going to happen.

Yea that seems to be the weird thing about that. SM5 just being constantly bashed. Always seems to be the case with something new: people don't like it and therefore don't see any point in putting effort in it. That and I was told anyone who can code well for SM5 will just refuse to work on anything DDR related.

I'm sorry if this is another useless bump, but since stepmania 5 beta 1 came out, and the scoring is very broken, as well as the option menu breaking down into a fatal error, will you make the theme compatable for stepmania beta 1???

I think SM5 beta 1 is getting better in the case of scoring system (it's not broken like in alpha 2 or alpha 3)
and I think this theme will be compatible for all version of SM5 since alpha 1
side note, I recalled getting new scoring script from AJ some times ago to get around the scoring error but now I can't find it anywhere. if someone has it and can implement it to this theme successfully then it will be fine

I'll make sure to sort those issues out so there won't be any errors like that. When the theme is closer to completion, I'll have some people do some beta testing for me or something so I can have a list of what bugs need working out. I have one of the best coders helping me so we'll get these things fixed one way or the other.
I actually do have a small update, I've just been busy with work and job offers that I haven't had time to post it:
STARLiGHT Select Music update (click on image for full size)
-Groove Radar and BPM are fully functional.
-The little side arrows bounce back and forth, and the meteors in the backdrop have been reduced slightly.
-We added a hard glow below the groove table since it gives off a light and a blurred reflection below it to make the surface look like frosted glass.
-If songs don't have album art, it will use the song's BG graphics as a default.
-The LED lights on the sides light up fast or slow according to the selected song's speed.
The theme actually has been in development since early 2012 rather than 2011. In late 2011, I conceived the ideas for several themes but this one grew much more than the others at that point so I went ahead and designed the tenative interface (it looked more like a modded X2 back then). Actual coding didn't really start until around April/May 2012 when my current coder reached out to me and offered his help that's when things ACTUALLY did take off.
My new characters are being implemented in the Select Style screens but when we manage to get a bigger chunk of updates, I'll upload another video showing off what we have.
