Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to this a long time ago, we apologize for the lack of activity regarding our release status. Here's our situation: All but a few developers are still active regarding the project's development, and no one has the motivation to really complete the rest of the project. So, we are turning to all of you to help us finish this project. All of the charts are completed, but there are components that still need to be completed:

1) Finalizing the sync (a few songs still haven't been touched because of one problem or another)
2) Marathons
3) Survivals
4) Graphics for most of the songs

Anyone who has skills in completing any of the above components is always welcome to submit any work to myself via private message or post it on the Rebirth forums.

The final thing we are asking for from all of you is constructive feedback. The more constructive feedback we receive, the more data we can have to help improve the project. Whether it be a qualm about a particular rating, quick thought about an element of a chart or an in-depth review of an entire chart, we welcome all constructive feedback.

You can download the Rebirth 2 Beta here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RJWYIFVS

To me, it seems like some of the double charts might be underrated. I played several rounds of the new stuff today, and here's the feedback I had. Also, note that I honestly can't remember if the "blue" difficulty level on ITG is called Challenge or Expert, which says something about parts of my short-term memory.

Night Flight to Tokyo (double challenge): Seemed overly hard for an 11. The cross-pad 16th pattern was rarely used in original ITG; the only example of it I can think of is Summer in Belize, which is 15 BPM slower but is still an 11.
Night Flight to Tokyo (single challenge): Seemed significantly easier than the double chart, at least, and I know I enjoyed it more and got a much higher score. I'd suggest 12 -> 11.
Tell Me A Story (double challenge): Some parts of the ending here are a bit much, with cross-pad movement, 32ths and hammer 12ths. I guess a 12 fits, but I'd almost call it a 13. Barely passed it.
8-Bit Trip (single/double heavy): Really enjoyed it, both single/double.
8-Bit Trip (single challenge): Definitely challenging, but didn't see it as a 14.
Elder God Shrine (single challenge): Enjoyable song and I like the 12th/24ths.

I can't remember any other strong opinions offhand. There was some double 9-block song that had some complex patterns I didn't expect, but I forget which. Also, it's also possible that I'm just getting old and less competent at doubles.

Thanks for the feedback Smile

We're still really on the fence about a lot of the chart ratings, so these bits of feedback are definitely helpful.

I definitely appreciate feedback from a seasoned ITG double player. I remember way back in like 2006 when I was just getting into ITG and players like you, TJ3, and Life were the dominant forces when it came to ITG double. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, good times back then.

Once I get my laptop going again I'll check this out and give it a review. Can't really help you on doubles seeing how I don't play them enough to know what a 10 or 11 would be. Roll Eyes

That's okay, we're also definitely open to feedback on the Double Hard charts as well, I'd like those to be just as good as the Double Expert charts

Phoning to Mars S-Challenge should be a 12 (in my opinion). I don't know about this.

Disconnected Apotheosis should really be called Disconnected PARANOiA. Big Grin

And the difficulty level has definitely risen since Rebirth 1. How hard can stuff get? So many more 14's, 13's, and 12's. And compare the 14's in here to Chromatic Blitz, and you'll see a pretty big jump in difficulty.

I also feel like the charts, especially the hard ones, aren't as fun as the ones in Rebirth 1. These feel more forced and just trying to challenge you with super fast notes and weird rhythms. And there are lots more 32nd notes, especially in the 12's, compared to Rebirth 1.

I can understand the rise of difficulty. Players are getting better and better and they need more challenge.

I've not played anything yet but I can say the song choices are MUCH better then they where in 1.

Yes, but then shouldn't the ratings just go higher so they aren't on a different rating scale. Maybe change some of the 14's to 15's (or 16's).

No. I mean some songs that were rated 11 5 years ago could get away of being rated 10. Also let's be honest, not very many super expert ITG players play for the 9s. Tongue

Well, ITG 1, ITG 2, and ITG Rebirth's 12's and 13's were pretty uniform (except for Summer ~Speedy Mix~). Why would this be different? Why can't we up the ratings?

lol, the 14 range is just a bit wider than you think. Look through the Dragonforce, Rhapsody of Fire, SPEEEEEDCOOORE and Tachyon packs, the rating scale is expanded. Some charts are even rated up to 18 on the ITG scale, with 1 21 footer in the SPEEEEDCOOORE pack.
silenttype01: Kyzentun is never harsh. He says it how it is.

GENERATION 24: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.

What you said contradicts itself. "The 14 range is wider than you think" and "Some charts are even rated up to 18..."

Oh, and is there a pack of the ITG 3 songs on the website in the first post? Like somebody said in those forums, I don't want to have to download random programs on my computer. Thanks in advance, and thanks later.

I dl'd it and was happy with some files but very disappointed with most of the song selection. Why is Queen's Tragedy and Night Flight in my ITG? Smaller rant - are the song previews finalized? They don't give justice to some songs.

Actually, this is pretty important, and I've got the same concern.

They are not finalized at all. Some of them got messed up when some songs were re-synced.

As of right now, it's looking like all the songs will have background scripts in the finalized project.
