With the Beta just now official, check the first post.

EDIT: The beta will offer the mode Rush at Operation Metro.

Rush Mode is about the same as in when it debuted in the Bad Company series, with a few tweaks.

* You cannot use explosives or shoot at the M-COM to take it out. Only arm and disarm.
* If the attacking team arms the M-COM but runs out of tickets, the match will continue until the M-COM detonates or defenders disarm it.
* If the defenders start disarming an M-COM just before it’s about to blow, the explosion is prevented until the disarm is accomplished. If the defender gets killed during the disarm process, the M-COM will instantly blow.

9/26/11 EDIT
-----

Watch it before it gets age-restricted. You know that will happen eventually (even the full-length Fault Line trailer got flagged as age-restricted).

9/29/11 EDIT
-----
Beta is released on all platforms.

I can't download the PC version; it says I don't meet the requirements, but I do... Edit: I actually don't, it seems Origin thinks the processor isn't overclocked.

And Battlelog says "Your account is not allowed to login"... Is this because I'm underage?

"It's pronounced See-OH-Zee"

So after a week of playing the 360 version, I should make some notes about this game. Most of my matches were TDM and a little taste of Conquest.

While the PC version is unmatched in the graphical quality, the consoles have a slight improvement over Bad Company 2's visuals in the consoles. Destruction is still an option, but to make for the falling debris, the level of destruction is reduced a bit. I haven't seen a building in certain TDM maps collapse.

There was a server downtime in the first day of the American release, so I couldn't play online in the first day. However, I find that a Conquest map, Operation Metro, is a decent map for simple firepower and offers flanking routes.

I'm not a fan of the aerial vehicle controls. The chopper is hard to use, and I haven't had a chance to use the mini-UAV yet. It's hard to control a jet as well. Given Bad Company 2's chopper controls was better, this version is a bit unacceptable.

I should note that my K/D ratio isn't the finest, but I did beast in one TDM with a good squad by having a high K/D ratio on that match, along with effective medkits and defibrillators, good enough to be in 2nd place of all players in that match and have my squad have enough points to be the top squad.

The campaign, which isn't the highlight, I should note is too heavy on quick time events, and it feels like it's Treyarch's modern variation of the storyline (interrogations between chapters, Russian antagonist, flashbacks). Even the final co-op mission relies on QTE for the mid-section and the finale. Choke on the QTE, and it's back to the beginning of the co-op mission. I do like a few sniping missions if you coordinate with your friend on sniping to pick different targets at the same time. If you're an Achievement Hunter, then going through the solo campaign and also co-op is required because 75% of the 38 Achievements roughly are solo and co-op. Combined with AI enemies that loves to pick the player off despite AI partners around and linear design, the solo component could frustrate even Bad Company veterans.

So while the multiplayer is outstanding provided the dedicated servers do work, I'd say the solo design leaves a lot to be desired. There are some memorable moments there. Just too linear and a tad on the frustrating side on Medium difficulty.

As of now though, I'm giving the game a 9 out of 10, thanks to multiplayer. Battlefield 3 is still a hardcore shooter as ever, like its predecessors (not counting the F2P BF Heroes). And nothing is going to change that.

3/7/12 BUMP: Close Quarters add-on announced for Battlefield 3. This add-on will allow 16 players in indoor environments.

http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/1/close-quarters

Quote
The HD Destruction in Close Quarters lets players riddle the environment with bullets, reducing entire locales to ruin. Everything from furniture to plaster can be shot to pieces, and players can see the result of the mayhem as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor.

The tight level design and many opportunities for vertical gameplay mean players will need to bring their A game if they want to stay alive in this highly competitive theater of war.

This fall will also bring the expansion pack Battlefield 3: Armored Kill. Featuring all-out vehicle warfare with new tanks, ATV’s, and mobile artillery, it also includes the biggest map in Battlefield history. Come winter, it is time for the fourth expansion pack Battlefield 3: End Game.

Come back next week for the first gameplay trailer and screenshots from Battlefield 3: Close Quarters.

EDIT Again: Turns out custom servers to rent in the console versions will also be an option. This should make Gamebattles much easier to handle.

-----

3/26/12 BUMP: Tomorrow is a title update for PS3 users, and other versions will get it at a later date. The Battlefield Blogs is down so I'll have to post a link at Battlelog that was posted three days ago instead.

4/3/12 BUMP: The title update has been released on all platforms. The PS3 got a headstart for a week while the PC got it a day after PS3's release. The Xbox 360 version of the TU just came out today.

Highlights including rebalancing to the guns (especially the USAS-12 w/Fag rounds), and Rent a Server which MLG would be proud of for their Gamebattles. Keep in mind that the 360 version will have two different TUs, one before the EA logo, and the second when going to the main menu screen prompting you to get a 1 GB update.

EDIT: The 360 version will accept Microsoft Points for renting a server. I bet the money card for PSN (PS3) will operate that way too.

Some players who got the update (probably early in the morning in the U.S.) did have a glitch on the Xbox 360 where it keeps saying the Rent a Server update was downloaded, and cancelling it will freeze the Xbox. I got the update in the morning but I don't have any issues right now, so DICE may have addressed it already.

I haven't rented a server to see the server options but it looks like the admin can give moderator access to any player in the server based on what I've heard in the party chat.

Also, in the future, the Battlelog site will support live feeds for a server in-browser, allowing players to view the the scoreboard for the server. This applies only to the PC version.

5/31/12 BUMP: Major title update coming June 4th. Well, what the heck? I'll try, but don't expect much for me here.

This patch is supposed to fix the broken M26 DART with Heavy Barrel.

http://blogs.battlefield.com/2012/05/bf3-june-update-announce/

6/4/12 BUMP: Updated the event log as Premium features has been added. It will cost $50 and will include the works, and early access to all DLC two weeks before the standard players get them.

7/5/12 BUMP: "Matches" feature is coming to BF3 pretty soon.

Source: http://blogs.battlefield.com/2012/07/matches-feature-coming-to-battlefield-3/

Now how about buffing the mortar so I can get a damn kill with it to complete the Back to Karkand assignment, Let it Rain?

7/16/12 BUMP: DICE reveals the biggest map for Battlefield to date, called Bandar Desert. This will be in the Armored Kill addon this September.
