I'm liking the graphic restoration of this theme. This will certainly be one of the best sm-ssc themes once this is released.

Just wondering, how would this theme perform on lower end computers? My main PC has a very terrible graphics chip and cannot even render the default theme at full frames. I'm hoping not too demanding as there are no 3D models or movie backgrounds.

One thing you can count on if this a faithful reproduction of the 5thMIX theme... 2D. 2D everywhere.

The only 3D would be used in ScreenHowToPlay (dancing character and 3D pad) and in Gameplay (if you choose a character), IIRC.

Well, there are a few graphics I know I can't recreate by myself.

Namely, this:


Instead of being a nearest neighbor resize, I'd like to have this redone to match the quality of the Select Style BG (which looks similar, but it's Blue with some other elements).

Something that I was searching few months ago is that if this stepmania version has unlocks mode. I didn't have results searching in metrics.

Do you believe that each theme should have unlocks mode?

What resolution is the "Select Style" BG? And are you saying that you'd like to have the BG you posted reconstructed to fit those dimensions?

nope. I am fully against unlocks, like Zhek was.

The select style BG is 640x480 in the original game. I took advantage of the fact that it's really easy to extend DDR 5th Mix's BG graphics to 854x480 by adding solid colors. :)

I'd prefer to have the background I posted at 854x480, but 640x480 would end up just as well, probably. :)

Download this file, extract it to Themes\DDR5th\BGAnimations\ScreenSelectCharacter overlay\, say yes when prompted to overwrite.

This should fix ScreenSelectCharacter for people who don't have any characters installed. You will get some "file missing" messages, due to the way the theme works with character icons.
