What mix of IIDX should a person get first?

I may be buying BMUS today on an eBay auction, and it comes with the controller. So I was wondering which IIDX mix I should get first if I like BMUS.

Also, my dad wants me to think about saving up for DJ equipment instead of buying BMUS. How could I explain to him that I want BMUS? NVM, I just told him that I wanted BMUS.

Good luck finding another iidx console game that's just as good and for that price.

i'd get gold, troopers or hs if you're not getting empress+pb (which i also would like to recommend because its easily the best game out for cs).
if i was to rate gold, troopers and hs, i'd go for troopers first, it's a blast having some friends over and show them songs like dazzlin' darlin'. the songlist is varied and it has a good mix of both old and new songs (http://vjarmy.com/wiki/index.php/CS_DJ_TROOPERS).
gold and hs are both equally good imo, i like hs better for solo play, but with friends i tend to play gold due to the fact that it has got both ghostbusters and gold rush in it.

To be honest, you should eventually get all of the styles because each style has really unique features/songs that you'd definitely enjoy!

Since you already have BMUS and I'm sure that you're not into older games, I'd recommend that you get beatmaniaIIDX® 11 IIDX RED first, then work your way up to the rest.

I just got BMUS today, and I love it!

I kind of suck at it though, but I've never played IIDX before.

And Jam Jam Reggae is hard for some reason.

Anyway, I'm already thinking about buying another controller, probably a DJ Dao if I have the money (or if someone gets it for me for Christmas).

Also, I would like my arcade to get an IIDX machine. How would I be able to do this without stopping them from getting X2?

Empress premium best hands down. Its my most played mix since it has such a huge selection of songs. Troopers is a very good choice too.

For me, I'd say Troopers and Empress + PB since the music list is quite good.

Troopers and Empress/PB are the only console I've played and I think they're great. I don't know how the previous ones play out, but don't expect these games to come easy. It took me forever to pass the easier stages! I haven't played in over a year or so, but once you can A a few 10's the game gets kicking and you get all competitive, it's a blast.

Well, I actually meant that the tracks of those styles are very good, so I recommended of those cs releases based on the OST's, if it's correct to say it in that way.

I thought it was a fact that 7th style cs was just about the worst release ever though. :/

You can't just base the opinion off the ost.
