i'm pissed at this game. it actually requires you to have a shitty ass strat controller, pro guitar controller, and pro drum cymbals to 100% the game. seriously, like i'm going to go spend 270 USD on a fucking guitar controller. also, i like my guitar hero controllers, but one of the challenges is to hit 85% of the notes in a solo using the solo frets. fuck this game.

also, this game fucking rocks. i'm loving the challenges, and difficulty really feels stepped up from RB2 without going overboard like GH tends to.

Totally agreed. The Impossible tier drum charts are so much harder than Rock Band 2. I could pass all 12 of the 7's in RB2, but I can only pass 2 or 3 of them in RB3. And fuck Llama on drums. Shit is ridiculously hard.

I kind of agree about the achievement stuff, but the pro modes are an integral part of the game, so I feel they should be included in the achievements and goals.

Pro Keyboard is also really hard, but it's feels so rewarding when you do well on it. Takes a lot of practice.

I think Pro drums is so much more fun than regular drums, it feels so much better than just hitting the four pads. I'm also interested in the Pro guitar, but I'm going to hold off on buying it until I have more money.

i understand making in game challenges for pro versions, but i think achievements/trophies is a bit much. really, i just mean that for guitar.

the pro drums expansion is only $35 USD, pretty reasonable and its NOT another controller but an add-on that has been around since RB2. both the RB2 and RB3 cymbals work for pro drums, i have no issue with this.

the keyboard is a new instrument for the game, and it brilliantly can be used for the regular keys and pro keys without any expansion, add on, or having to buy a second keyboard. also the game comes with one.

pro bass and guitar, i mean it would be a 3rd (if i only had 2 guitars, which i dont) controller for everyone to buy, and its not even reasonably priced. furthermore, to make it a functional midi guitar you have to shell out another $50 USD for the brain. i mean shit, who REALLY spends this on a video game? especially in todays market and economy, this was a STUPID decision.

i mean i was really hyped for pro guitar, i thought it was just gonna be another $60 USD controller, which is reasonable. hell, i bought two $150 USD SF4 TE fight sticks, because they are 100% quality and i can use them for every fighter out there that is on PS3 (including PS1 titles). this on the other hand will only work with RB3, and it costs as much as two arcade style fight sticks. thats a huge no go for me.

oh, and while i'm in here. are HO-POs harder now? i find myself missing strings on songs i've FCed repeatedly in RB2, but on songs without HO-POs i notice no difference. i think strumming was leftthe same, but the timing for HO-POs is definitely smaller. good for them, its discouraging to miss random notes but in no time i'll be FCing again. its a rhythm game, it should involve your rhythm Smile

edit- also, passing 50 RB3 songs on expert unlocks playing keys on guitar. what bad ass thought of this? i love that man.

Also remember that with Pro guitar not only are you getting a controller, you're also getting an ACTUAL MIDI guitar. In particular in March when you can get a real guitar. They'd have to be monumentally stupid to sell that for $60.

i already pointed out that the pro guitar isnt a fully functional midi guitar out of the box. its gonna be $270 USD, with tax we're looking at about $300 USD. add in the brain, $50 USD, plus tax about $55 USD, we're looking at a $355 midi guitar. might as well go buy a guitar if you ask me.

even if you dont buy the brain, its $300 for a controller for one mode in one game. they could have EASILY come up with a $60 guitar controller designed for pro mode and nothing else. its the same thing i keep saying about consoles. i dont give a fuck about browsing youtube, checking facebook, an .mp3 player, bluray capabilities, DVD player, CD player, .avi playback, or any of the extra shit my PS3 does. i just want to play games on it. unfortunately i had no choice but to spend the money on a PS3 for a bunch of shit i'll never use because i have a computer, a DVD player, a blu-ray player, and a computer. i'll be damned if i spend $300 on a controller for rockband.

edit- google tells me that the fender squire controller is $300, but the fender mustang is $150 but will only be for pro mode. still ridiculous. like i said, i only paid that for TE sticks because i can play EVERYTHING with them.

Yeah the Pro guitars are pretty expensive, but they'll probably go down in price eventually. I mean it does have 102 buttons, 6 strings, and MIDI functionality, so I'm not surprised it's so expensive. If the newer RB/GH traditional 5 button guitars are going for around $50, it really can't be that big of a surprise that the Pro one is as expensive as it is.

Also I read somewhere that you can play the regular 5 button mode on the Pro guitar, I don't know how it works though.

I'm going to buy the $150 one next week, mainly because I'm interested in the challenge it offers. I want to be able to play every part they offer in the game Tongue

Nice. I like the pro keys chart for that song, fairly easy but still fun to play

"Oh god what I have dooooone?!"
Look on the bright side. Over here, we don't even GET the pro instrument kits. We only got RB2 instruments in Beatles, at $350 for the kit. And we can't get the cymbal expansions.

The only pro instrument we can get here is the keytar, and that's $200 BY ITSELF. So if any NZ player wanted to 100% the game and get the full controller set, it would cost over $1000.

Fuck yeah, lovin' new zealand gaming.

i took #1 for rainbow in the dark expert keys and #1 for livin' on a prayer expert bass. i'm claiming this as the greatest victory of my rockband career, although i may very well have taken #1 in RB1 or RB2 and never known because i dont check leaderboards, i only know these because RB3 tells you your leaderboard position.

i'm not sure if you're serious or not, i actually am not a fan of full band play. i dont care about a singer either way, but i prefer to only have one other instrument on screen or it shrinks the scroll area too much for me to play well. i'm not saying i dont do it at parties or anything, but i mostly do that because i know when i'm drunk i wont be playing at my best anyway. unless the song is brain dead easy, i rarely FC in band play because of this.

if you arent sure what i mean, try playing a song by yourself and see how big the scroll area is, thats what i'm referring to.

also no one plays bass or keyboard, at least not compared to guitar, so taking #1 on these isnt a huge deal its just a personal accomplishment. i havent ranked better than #22 on guitar yet.

fuck you. you know who you are. :p

edit- unless you haven't exported the 3 other games, or absolutely love keys and harmonies, skip the (RB3 version) of the bonjovi songs. livin' on a prayer, you give love a bad name, and wanted dead or alive are the exact same thing as their RB1, RB2 and LRB counterparts with keys and harmonies added. since its $1 extra for pro-bass and pro-guitar it would be $3 per song, so $9 for 3 songs you already have.

Puppy Face

I've been lurking the rock band website and have been noticing that no one from Harmonix has been replying to posts. It's most likely because of Viacom wanting to sell them (which doesn't even make sense since this was filed months ago).

Whatever the case, if your Rock Band 3 controllers start bugging out, pray to god that you bought it at a retail store so that you can return it. If your store warranty expired, then you still have Mad Catz' manufacturer's warranty that you can use to return the faulty item directly to Mad Catz. Keep in mind that you will have to pay a shipping fee to return it. Replacing the drums will incur a $40 shipping fee to California. I'm not sure if it's the same price for the other instruments.

i got #1 for new kid in school expert guitar.

i also FC'ed cold as ice expert keys, but i was offline. i still show 99% 116,XXX on the leaderboard. anyone know how to make it take my REAL high score and use that instead of my current leaderboard score?

edit: also, anyone playing on PSN? please post your gamertags. playing against silent's scores added new life to this game, but it would be nice to get some guys at my skill level on harder songs since i'll never tough his impossible scores. off the top of my head he's beating me by 90k on GGaHT and 60k on before i forget.
