To get this out of the way, I don't like how you step the down arrow. Half your foot or less but try not to use a lot of your foot for any arrows. Conserves energy.

Isn't the PS2 version off sync or something? Is there an arcade nearby with ITG or DDR? I will tell you that arcade practice is better than home because unlike that crappy Afterburner, arcade pads can take a hit and it helps stamina wise since it won't drain you. That said, you can naturally play harder songs because IMO and like I said, the arcade can take a hit and the Afterburner will give you trouble with harder songs.

If the pad really isn't the problem, then is really energy conservation and you easily moving your feet around on the pad. If the "bar" moves, have someone "sit" on it (I know is a chair lol). I hope I helped. I have an Afterburner and it's not the same as the arcade but it's still pretty cool.

Yeah, Utopia is definitely the easiest 11. After you complete that, move on to Charlene no mines, then complete it with mines, and just keep moving up the chain I guess.

I thought Charlene to be easier than a 16th run with a bloody outro from Utopia.

I haven't tried Charlene without the mines. I could probably pass that though. I get really confused when they throw the mines in with the jumps. I just tried playing Utopia, and I had so much trouble with the end.

I'm still working on the half foot thing it's just the down arrow that gives me some trouble. I still haven't gotten the coordination to do the heel-toe technique that all the 12 and 13 steppers do.

There is only one arcade in my town, and it is sadly worse than my dance mats. The arcade is DDR Extreme. I have to drive almost 50 miles out of town to get to any other DDR or ITG arcades.

Yeah, the conversion is roughly DDR X Scale % 1.4 = ITG scale.

So
12=8.6
13=9.3
14 = 10
15 = 10.7
16=11.4
17=12.1
18=12.8
19=13.5
20=14.2
I could agree on this because it makes sence, but... after 16' most of the ddr songs are dumb.
I mean, you can't compare a ddr 18' or 17' to a itg/custom 12' or 13'. The kind of difficulty is not the same.

My Favorite Game...
You seems to have some problem with stamina and speed (or accuracy maybe) imo. You had a hard time on the jumps too.

Imo, you should keep practicing 8', 9' and 10' only. Work on your footwook, technique, balance, breath, timing, speed, ect.
By increasing all those point at least a little bit, you'll become better.

Also if you can play at the arcade sometimes, DO IT (i took bus + train every saturday to play on Extreme cab until it disapear >.<). At least, you won't play on a weird pad with a weird bar.
I say that because i have the same pad and i already tried the chair/bar. With this configuration, i play like sh** (but i have a problem with TX pad i guess).

If you want to keep practicing with the chair, it must move less. Put heavy stuff on it (like 6x2L on water this 2 times) for exemple.

I know some people who (in the past) used to play tip toes (so not flat floot at all) and cool AAA easy songs on ddr, cleared some 10 on DDR. I mean, sure flat foots helps but do not ONLY focus on this.
It's not only a matter of footwork
I even saw videos of WinDEU played (still play ?) on tip toes and you know that he can pass hard stuff Big Grin (and got good scores too).

Hey guys, sorry this is an old thread. I would just like to thank all of you for your great advice, and announce to you all that I have finally beat my first 11 on ITG, that being Charlene with the mines.

Again, thank you so much!
~Margo

I will continue by practicing Xuxa and The Beginning.

Not all 12 and 13 steppers use that cheap heel-toe technique, some of us can do 12's and 13's and step in the middle of the arrow and actually move our body properly.
I haven't video'd any 13's yet, but I can pass them with great effort, I intend to video a FC of a 12 and a pass of a 13 soon.
You get a better workout when you move step on each arrow, and that's how the game was meant to be played. 11's 12's and 13's aren't just gimmicky, they were meant to be extremely physically demanding, so keep practicing.

stop trolling and shut up

Hellrazor the technique you referred to as "cheap" is what pretty much every top-tier ITG player uses. Agentmargo if you get good at heel/toe, mark my words it makes passing streamy 12s and 13s a HELL of a lot easier, stepping in the centre expends more energy than minimising foot movement:
Case in point - Determinator
Case in point no.2 - Pandy

If you get good at heel-toe PA-wise try bracket-raping charts with streams that face one way (Oasis Hard is a good one, so is Charlene no-mines)

LOLBUTTHURT

In all seriousness, the only reason I don't do it is because I can't do it properly. I keep getting within 15 steps of the ending of Summer ~speedy mix~ 13 but I can never quite make it to the end.

While I'm not denying people from using it, and actually want to learn myself, it is DEFINITELY CHEAP.

It's the ITG version of using the bar.Surprised The only time it's really helped me was Vertex^2 Heavy and Healing -D- Vision Challenge.

So far, I have not gotten the coordination down to do the heel-toe technique, so I am very glad to see that it is possible to pass 12s and 13s without doing it. I might be able to bracket-rape now because I got a pair of Puma Etoile shoes, which are very flexible and have a high arch. I wanted tapers, but they no longer sell them in stores.

stop acting like you're special. i would wager at least 90% of us that can pass 12s and 13s do it on our tippy-toes or flat footed. of course i cant forget that you have no fucking clue what flat footed actually means, and some how think its the same thing as bracketing but whatever. you're an idiot, and you don't do anything everyone that doesn't play on an ITG2 dedicab does. seriously, thats the only time you ever see that work. most DDR cabs in the states are either the horrible SN or X cabs, or old ass extreme or lower cabs. the pads aren't sensitive enough for that. take that into consideration combined with most ITG2 machines being boxxors, and dedicabs being the minority and it should be really easy to see what i'm saying.

tl;dr most people don't bracket because it doesn't work as advertised unless you're on a sensitive ITG2 dedicab instead of a DDR upgrade.

as for cheap, learn the meaning of the word. that part that says achieved with little effort, take note that no one who brackets gets good scores. sure, you get a pass but this isnt 2002, its 2010. passing hard songs doesn't really mean anything anymore because everyone does it. what matters is scores, and you don't get good scores bracketing. as such, you aren't getting the same thing with less effort, you're getting less with less effort. as such, the only logical conclusion to come to is that bracketing isn't cheap.

tl;dr you're a god damn idiot.

This thread is hilarious

So Aegis, any luck on more 11s?

If you're looking for an easy 11, I think you could try my "Ride on Goat" simfile, it's really straightforward as far as stream goes.
