Pre-orders have begun on konamistyle.jp. うたっち (Utacchi) is a new BEMANI game to be released on February 25th, 2010. It uses the BEMANI logo featured in the pop'n music series.

I love how they've started pre-orders for a game that they have revealed almost nothing about. No screens, no partial songlist, nothing more than an extremely vague description of the gameplay.

All we know is that this game involves "touching" and songs. It could be another EBA but a cute-sy one lol.

hmmm, the logo looks like a frog's head, is there any frog characters in Pop'n?

I just saw. Some other fine songs as well. I just hope they don't taint this game with She is my wife and GOLD RUSH. They'll make that poor cute girl from the commercial cry and become disinterested in the game very quickly!

Just kidding, this game is so on my radar. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm thinking of updating my DS to a DSi or DSi LL/XL. Maybe I'll make this the first game I get with it!

I think the only big deal with a touch screen is that the game can't ask you to press more than one note at once.

Rhythm de Run Run Run suffers from the same problem, but t still managed to be a 5-star music DS game. Utachi can be everything that RDRRR was, but with the addition of the 5 note gameplay, and an absolutely killer soundtrack. I'm considering FAQing it, if it lives upto even half of it's premise.

Many sources are reporting these songs are also in the game.

@Lord Toon I think you would be really surprised by how much fun touch screen games can be. Especially when the touch function is utilized as well as this game is promising.

@Tyma Same goes for Ouendan/EBA and you've seen how beloved (and difficult!) those games are.
This game also has four different 'utacchis', as I have been calling them. 1) 'Tap' 2) 'Tap & Hold' 3) 'Sweep Down' 4) 'Hold & Sweep Up-and-Down'. I think this game could definitely raise the bar on difficulty.
You should definitely consider doing an FAQ. The game is definitely going to need a Lyrics FAQ for the Karaoke Mode. Especially if the game requires you to go through that mode for 100% completion/unlocking.

What I'm wondering most about is if the game will be vocal versions or midi style songs. Even though the commercial plays a vocal song, that really doesn't tell me if the songs in the game will be that way. Hmm, I'm going to go with that they will because how on earth would they expect that little girl from the commercial to know what Non-Fiction Story! is. (Or the two new 'unknown' songs if they're original songs made exclusively for the game.)

EDIT - I guess the only question I have left is the game keysounded? I guess we'll find out soon enough!

I'm casually tossing around the idea of upgrading my DS from the 'phat' to the DSi with this game, but oh my god, has the DSi always been $169.99? lol Good lord!!
