Because the hp web site didn't have the bios file for Pavilion xt963 and that means I cannot boot Xubuntu to a USB drive, I can't be sure if there's a workaround besides burning Xubuntu to a CD. The CD-RWs I burn onto has hurt me more than helped before because even though it burns successfully, the disc screws up and shuts down. Can I get some advice on how to start a computer with a USB drive?

If the BIOS doesn't support it, you're out of luck as the system won't even check the USB devices.

I've heard about the software called PLoP. Found this off YouTube below, but here is the site below the vid. Not sure if this works, but I'll find out.

UPDATE: Yeah, it looks like PLoP Boot Loader can do the trick here. So far, I didn't get problems installing Xubuntu afterwards. Only problem with PLoP is that it will not work if the .bin file is fragmented. If that happens, you're sorta screwed.
