There haven't been any updates whatsoever since April (maybe farther back than that), there certainly aren't going to be any more.
Also, Freedom was pulled from the App Store a long time ago. And for good reason.

The development team from Freedom was probably dissolved after that misfire. The next mobile game will seemingly cover all smartphones and is just called DanceDanceRevolution.

Is there anywhere (on this site, or otherwise) to access DDR Freedom's simfiles? I never got to see it and I'd like to see just how bad they were.

FREEDOM is still available if you downloaded it prior to its removal IIRC.
