"Give me a steady beat."
Maybe it has killed game development for the PS2, but I argue against it killing the system. Especially in the eyes of players. PlayStation 3 still leaves a lot to be desired for many. And until every single PlayStation and PlayStation 2 game I have works in the PS3, I'll always keep a dutiful little PS2 slim around.

Japan still has a thriving Dreamcast community, for what it's worth.

The PS3 didn't kill the PS2 at all. There are still titles bound for the PS2, at least in North America... even if they are your yearly sports titles, and this is likely to be the final round of those.

But, as Aeron said, the PS2 still has quite a bit of life left in it, at least as far as the players are concerned. Some of the best games ever released -- Bemani-related and otherwise -- are likely to remain exclusive to the platform, and really aren't too hard to come by. The hardware is cheap as well, and with proper backwards compatibility with original Playstation titles, it has one of the largest libraries available for anything that isn't a PC.

A system is only dead if its player base quits on it entirely. The PS2 has a long way to go in that respect, I think.

Can someone in America with a PSN account do me a favour? Get me the list of DDR packs and their release dates as stated on PSN so I can update the first post.
