I don't have a DS but I'm sure other people do so I figured it be best to make the thread here.

I only have Leaf Green and I'm planning on getting the older games. I've been getting an urge to play pokemon recently.

I just got Pokemon Pearl for about 15$ last week. It's really good. I still miss the good old red & blue days. Nice to see I'm not the only one who's got Pokemon on the mind.

Pokemon is a pretty addicting game. And I want a DS to play that new one that came out. I got the usual e-mail from nintendo advertising the game and it showed some anti gravity world where he's walking on the wall.

I also want to get into Breeding my pokemon. Getting a pidgey to learn splash is downright hilarious.

Ok, that's a lie I have Ruby, FireRed, and Diamond but I can't play them.

Haven't laid a hand on my Diamond for about a year. Also have Sapphire. Had Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Stadium in the past. Now I feel like going back to playing them and getting LeafGreen. Diamond is actually the last game I bought for my DS...that was two years ago...tomorrow (4/30) coincidentally.

Time to buy Leafgreen then!!! It's a shame we can't actually trade with the newer version. You just have to transfer them to the database and catch them in the wild. I wanted to get more Johto pokemon from those games.

I'm trying to get my dream team on the d/p/pl series. It's Arcanine, Torterra, Gallade, Crobat, Milotic, and Gastrodon (has to be east side, the blue one). I've gotten the chance to get all of them, then BANG! I win.

I'm an observant little man and I saw that the pokeballs in Leafgreed were red, blue, yellow and purple. I decided to catch the legendary birds with matching pokemon. Surprisingle, Moltres was easy to catch with a normal pokemball. I had the most problems catching Articuno with Great Balls. I had to reset twice since I ran out of them and I really didn't want to go through Seafoam Islands all over again to restock.

I have caught everypokemon that I am able to in Leafgreen along with the Unowns that I'm able to capture. All that's left is to capture Entei with a regular Pokeball. Gotta have it match.

I'm rather into pokemon, probably a little too much so...
I used to spend a good deal of my free time offering pokemon tech support on GameFAQs.

My pokedexes are basically full on Emerald and Diamond; in each one I have an event legendary waiting to be picked up, and I'm holding off since they (Deoxys/Darkrai respectively) have a lot of possible sets and I don't want their stats set in stone before I decide what I want to use them for. Also in Diamond, I've been working towards 100% items collection - there's still the Protector (need to find someone with a DS so I can trade another one from my new Platinum), there's the Sacred Ash from underneath Island 8's Ho-Oh (haven't decided on his stats either), and there's the Starf, Rowap and Jaboca berries. Starf requires me to get the 7 gold emblems from Emerald's Battle Frontier (high win streaks are really frickin' luck-based; I hate Brightpowder), Rowap should be on the upcoming event Arceus, and Jaboca is still yet to be accounted for. Also I have to finish the contests up for the rest of the accessories, then I have to go back underground with another game for the Blue and Pink Crystals, and get a streak of 100 at the Battle Tower for the Gold and Silver Trophies. (Max record: 49)

Here's a few comments I wanted to respond to...
1. Pidgey cannot get Splash through breeding. Look here for valid options - anything listed for the kid as learnable by TMs, HMs or egg moves can be passed down from father to child. Level-up moves can be passed down if both parents know it. Move tutor moves cannot be passed down unless they're also egg moves. Pidgey is compatible with everyone in the "Flying" egg group, listed at the bottom of that page.

2. You can trade/battle on emulators if you have a special version of the emulator. For VisualBoyAdvance, look up vba-link.

3. You can trade between GBA games with one GBA, if you have either Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness (both for Gamecube, and yes the Wii can play Gamecube games) and also a GBA-to-GCN link cable. Also note that Colosseum has a ton of Johto pokemon including all three starters, and XD has a good selection too (also including the starters).

4. Technically, when transferring ("Pal-Parking") pokemon to the DS games, you just play a little minigame where you go in a small enclosed area with 5 different terrains, find your pokemon (there's nothing else there) and throw balls that auto-catch them. On the other hand, there's a slot-in feature where you can find a few extra pokemon depending on which game's in your GBA slot. There's also a PokeRadar that lets you catch a lot of the old pokemon in the wild. You'll still need the old games to get their legendaries, of course.

5. Oh, and Shadow Ball is a physical attack in LeafGreen. Its damage is based on your Attack stat and your opponent's Defense stat. If you had Emerald version, I would suggest teaching your Alakazam Fire Punch, Ice Punch and/or Thunderpunch. Without it, you could breed one by teaching the moves to a Hitmonchan (see Island 2 move relearner if necessary) and breeding Chan with your Alakazam. Try to hatch one with a Modest (+SpAtk, -Atk) nature, as that's one of his best personalities. The downside to breeding is obviously having to raise the little bugger from Lv05, but meh, LG is one of the best games for leveling thanks to the E4 rematch.

Also, keep in mind that Emerald is the only GBA game with a clone glitch. It's incredibly useful - you can clone multiple pokemon and items at once, and the actual trick takes under a half-minute! Add to that how there's a much faster bike than LG's, there are out-of-battle ability effects (like Magma Armor making eggs hatch faster, or Static raising the encounter rate of Electric-types), there's buyable move tutor moves in the Battle Frontier, the pokemon available in Emerald and LG combined will get you almost all of 3rd gen...

How did you get an Alakazam with only one game, again?

3. I do not have a gamecube and I do not intend on buying the Wii anytime soon. But it's good to know that I can get the rest ofthe johto pokemon that I'm missing

4. I didn't know there were more features outside of the autocatch parks. I just knew about that from my friend since she wanted me to give her some of my extra pokemon

5. I already have my Alakazam with Shadow Ball. It's a shame he's a timid nature though. He has a pretty low attack.

Is Emerald the yellow version of LeafGreen/FireRed?

I was a highschool freshman when I bought the game and I wound up bumping into other people that play pokemon. They did me the favor of evolving my Kadabra to an Alakazam, along with Golem, Machamp and Gengar. I also went to the Mew convention which is where I got two Mews, the other two Kanto starters and a handful of Johto and Kanto pokemon. Some guy was supposed to trade me his Bent Spoon for my Alakazam after I traded him my one of my TMs. Bastard never gave me my Bent Spoon

The people I hung out with were a nice bunch except for that one guy. I also got a handful of the third generation pokemon in my pokedex. I only have Blaziken shown as caught and own Wynaut and Azurill.

I legitimately captured lots of Pokemon...Then I started breeding clones with the correct stats. I also make clones with whack moves to mess around. And I always mark my clones so not to confuse them with legit ones.//
