One year since the breakup. Most, if not all, aspects of my life still as, if not more, fucked than ever. I'm not hoping for things to get better, because I had more than enough people hoping for 2014 to be good for me and, well, it so fucking hasn't.

We should all team up and convince Konami to make just one more international DDR release.
It's most likely not gonna happen, but we have to try. Right?

If Konami is going to reboot the series again, I think it should be with a new and improved pad layout with 7 panels per player instead of 4, and arranged in a honeycomb shape, like a top 2, middle 3, bottom 2 sort of thing. With the widescreen monitors that they're using now, they could fit a row of 7 icons per player on a 2 player game no problem. Start the songlist over like DDRMAX and build on it from there. Call it DDR EVOLVED. If they want to kill the series, this might work too. Either people will adapt and support it or hate it extremely, but I know I'd like to play on 7 panels. Might take a bit of practice to start off, but you gotta start somewhere.

They had six-panel mode in SOLO and 4th Mix Plus. That didn't go well.

How so? And even if it wasn't too well received at the time, that doesn't mean they can't improve on the concept and try to release something better than what existed previously. Besides, Solo mode was just 2 extra panels added to the traditional 4 panel layout, making it top-heavy. a 7 panel layout would involve a full redesign to make the layout more even and fully symmetrical. I think it would do a bit better than the Solo mixes did.

Also, I guess Konami will probably want to see how well received in Japan Pump It Up becomes before making any new Bemani games.

I really don't think a 7-panel design would be a good idea. And scrapping the entire songlist in favour of 50 or 60 new songs is the stupidest thing they could do.

Seriously, we have Pump It Up with five-panels and we have Doubles mode in DDR for eight-panels. Seven just sounds like a stupid idea.

This, basically. As good an idea as it is, outside of the people on here who want it, the general public really don't. We learnt this with DDRII. They came out with a properly good game and it was largely ignored. Also it's quite funny that when Konami don't release one people complain yelling "they're just about the money!" Well, they're a business, of course they're in it for the money, if a company keeps making the same games that nobody bothers to buy, they get sunk. Duh.

Yesterday I played a IIDX machine for the first time at an arcade!
I also played some Bishi Bashi, it was a newer machine and played some BEMANI songs like Cassandra, Jet World and
Mikeneko Rock.
I also saw some IIDX characters!

I'm assuming this was at Astro City? Only place I know with a Bishi Bashi.

BTW Nerd3's Bishi Bashi videos are the greatest entertainment ever made.
