"Lyrics to Unreal, anyone?" |
Does anyone know where I can get a list of Konami originals, or is there a thread here? I'm thinking about uploading more of them but I don't want to violate any copyright rules or anything, so I need to know what's safe to upload to YouTube.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Uploading any song to which you to not own the copyright is a violation. Though if I were you, I wouldn't be too concerned regardless; a new user is an unlikely target for removals. However, for the sake of knowing, you can check out the song lists here; they are sorted by licenses and KOs.
If you really need to know, you can just give us a list of a few songs/artists and we can tell you what are KONAMI originals.

I also found on Wikipedia that for some versions, there's a list of categorized songs with Licensed Tracks, New Konami Originals, and Returning Konami Originals, as well as boss songs. I think some boss songs are copyrighted by well-known artists, and especially the ones under Licensed Tracks. If you want to take a look at the one for SuperNOVA 2 (North America), for example, it's at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Revolution_SuperNova_2_(North_America)#Songs. Just click Show on the table if it's hidden.
Also, piepiepie75 sent me something a while back about copyrighted stuff:
"In short: yes. These artists ARE under record labels and such. Can they sue you? Absolutely.
WILL they sue you? ...no. Most of these artists are copyrighted and under labels in Japan. To sue someone in America or any other country would be extremely expensive and not worth whatever money they would get by suing you.
Not to mention the fact that the record label they're under is not even close to being mainstream or anything. It takes a lot of time and money to get enough evidence to sue you. If you follow the RIAA lawsuits, they go after people who have downloaded mainstream music...Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, etc. etc. even mainstream Japanese artists like Utada Hikaru and Hitomi Shimatani are ignored from suing. "
I don't think these people would sue me, but they might file a copyright complaint to YouTube if ANYTHING, and then if YouTube removes three videos from my channel, my account gets suspended. I think that's the most I have to worry about, but I will still be cautious with every simfile I upload.

Honestly, don't worry too much about it. For licensed songs, the DDR cuts are shortened edits of originals; labels don't care about them, it's not the full song.
You won't be sued, it's not worth it to attack someone on the internet uploading DDR videos. Don't sweat it, I also doubt your videos will be targeted for removal.
Finally, boss songs are always owned by KONAMI. Only licensed tracks are not owned by KONAMI. Though, songs owned by KONAMI may either be from KONAMI's in-house artists, or they may have paid an established artist to make the song for them. The status of some songs is questionable, but feel free to ask if you need. Regardless, don't worry, and even if a video gets removed, it's not the end of the world.

Nope,be careful on this one. I got banned because of my Lonely In Gorgeous Stepmania video. It was a cut from the original version, the BG video was off-sync and the quality wasn't that good. And I got suspended!
Same for Phantom7373,because of his IIDX video of Bad Boy Bass!.

There are still some people who maintain their original accounts who upload lots of StepMania videos. It's bad luck. Trying not to scare DDRMAN out of making videos if he wants. If you're truly paranoid, just give the videos misleading tags, so that they don't show up in searches for DDR related things. Though, if you want people to randomly find your videos, it's a little counter-productive.

Don't worry guys, I'm not too worried about it. I also thought of that cut thing as an argument. It's like how movie maker's advertise their movies in previews, so putting the "DDR version" of a song (which is the cut version) is sort of like "advertising" the song, because it's not the full version.
