I only have DDRMAX2 and EXTREME2 and I was thinking about getting another game.

Thing is, my really cheap gamespot pad (and my only PS2 pad Sad)) so if I do buy it, I'd need to buy it in a bundle. On top of that, I'm only willing it to buy if it's a really, really, good game that has some serious replay value.

What do you guys suggest? Should I buy it?

If you ask me, it's a slight downgrade of MAX2 if that tells you anything.

You can probably get it for less than, oh, 15 dollars. I'd say go for it.

I say Max is greater than Max 2, it has a great list, but if you want a (in my opinion) better game, go for SuperNOVA (not 2, 1)

"cold weather season♪"
yeah you should
i have it and the songlist is fun and better than the JP version of DDRMAX for some reason 7.7
plus it has two 2mb songs,MAX300/Candy* and
a fun credit*
hit all of the names-and i mean HIT THEM ALl-and you just play through one song to unlock other song*
but the downslide is there no characters only BGAs
plus it the only PS2 game with a timer

Max 2 was good, but Max had some nice older songs (Rhythm and Police!), so it depends on what you like. If you want the closest arcade port the US has ever gotten, that would be SuperNOVA. Though, you already own the king of US CS releases, Extreme 2.

Yeah that's the thing. There's an Extreme arcade at the movies around my house, so that's all that anyone ever plays so I enjoy the older songs.

Yeah, I just looked at the songlist again, and it has a lot of the older songs, I would go for that, but i'd pick up SN if you ever get the chance, it is actually a great CS game.

Sad You just reminded me of my old broken MAX disc... I loved that game, better than Max 2 IMO, but not by much, just because of the song list. Really, if I could combine Max US and Max JP, that'd be awesome.

Max JP's Dancemania licenses made that mix for me, and I think it was miles better than the US one, despite having about 20 less songs.

MAX was my second DDR game and I thoroughly enjoyed it (especially because my first was EXTREME US *growls* )

Anyways, the songlist is pretty solid on DDRMAX, and I'd say go for it. You'll notice some crossovers from MAX2 (The Shining Polaris, Spin the disc, Silent Hill, Secret Rendez-vous I think) But overall, it is a great game. The lack of characters set some off, but I never really thought they detracted from the game.

Also, some of the greatest 9's you will ever play (that aren't in Extreme2) are on Max. Healing Vision ~AM~, ORION.78, exotic ethnic, TRIP MACHINE CLIMAX!

My vote: Buy it.

Buy it. It has really good american licenses. I Like To Move It, Sandstorm, You Leave Me Alone, Take It To the Morning Light, and it also has that rare version of PARANOiA MAX.

The only downside is that you would have to go into edit mode to input the missing charts, but that shouldn't be a big problem.

It was my second DDR game (after MAX2, which I bought one day before). I actually liked MAX US over MAX2 US, if only because some of the stuff in MAX2 was repeated from MAX. Both games these days should be no more than US$20 (although some places have MAX for US$25 used). I'd say go for it if you like MAX 300, CANDY(star), HVAM, R&P, and the Club Another version of PARANOiA MAX (DIRTY MIX), which is actually my favorite PARANOiA after ETERNAL.

The only downside (if you play doubles) is that the club version songs do not have D-HEAVY steps. Also, CUTIE CHASER (Morning Mix) is different here from EXTREME AC, stepwise. This is because the steps were carried over from OHA STA DDR. All doubles stepcharts for this song are identical (which later became the D-LIGHT steps in EXTREME AC)

Songs that you might need to add through Edit Mode:

Brilliant 2U Oni for Single and Double
The alternate steps for Stomp to My Beat for Single and Double

celebrate Heavy for Doubles
Cutie Chaser Standard and Heavy for Doubles
5.1.1. Heavy for Doubles

You can also put in the Oni charts that were given to the following from the Xbox games:

AM-3P
Candy
Ecstasy
Secret Rendez-vous
Kind Lady

Edit: The following have the same step charts for both Standard and Heavy Doubles (they were never given appropriate Heavy charts for Doubles)

22DUNK
DEEP IN YOU
GAMBOL
PARANOiA MAX
RUGGED ASH

that my local chuck-e-cheese place there three DDR machines(a 5th mix,DDRUSA and SuperNOVA)
but superNOVA's downslide is.....well nothing expect no two characters at the same time
the downsilde for 5th mix is the 2p down arrow is broken
and no downsilde for DDRUSA
on topic:
i heard that "spin the disc" on DDRMAX is a preview song for DDRMAX2,so i guess that they were going to do perview songs for us

The thing with Spin the Disc was that it was impossible to AAA it on DDRMAX because it goes to the result screen before counting the O.K.! for the last freeze arrow. Someone may have to confirm this as I'm unsure about it.

As for the missing charts, look a couple of posts aboveRoll Eyes

DDRMAX does not support Beginner
