"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana" |
So I was glancing over at the Groove Motion DDR promo video again, and I couldn't help but notice that Zenius didn't have a thread for it~
Groove Motion DDR is not played like a traditional DDR game, it is a set of several pads (which look a bit different than traditional DDR home pads, and also don't seem to have sensors) meant for use in gyms and exercise centers. Players select a song and perform exercises dictated on the screen to the beat of the music. Not much seems to be known about the exercises themselves, but ones shown in the promo video show arrows coming up to the step zone (In which players hit the corresponding button as they would in a traditional game, except there's more movement encouraged) another shows the stepzone changing from an arrow to a fist, in which players punch forward. The video itself doesn't show the gameplay getting too heated, but screenshots hint that the game may feature full fledged dance routines done to on screen cues (Ala, ParaParaParadise, but with more movement )
Obviously, it's not meant to be an actual DDR release, rather it combines aerobic exercises with the DDR formula. But don't think that you're not getting any DDR songs to exercise to! Dynamite Rave is played toward the end of the video and a screenshot reveals "Baby Baby Gimme Your Love" in gameplay.
The game was only shown at an event in Japan last year and there's not even a confirmation that it will ever release, but it is still featured on the home page of Konami's Japanese website, so there does seem to be hope.
In any event, it looks hella fun .

+1 to Kynayo.
It looks like an evolution of the multi player concept introduced by Positive Gaming. Interesting
