What do you think is the better game?

Personally, I haven't played NEITHER games, but...

1) The DDR X songwheel is MUCH better than HP 2'S songwheel.

However...

2) The KO'S and licenses are better in HP2. (Yeah X has a few good licenses too, but there's nothing that really stands out in X for me. HP2 has a few licenses that I really do like and I KNOW I'll play)

I say X, mainly because of Street Master, but also because of certain songs (SABER WING, SOUL CRASH, etc.)

DDR X wins by a little because of the songs that I wanted in the previous CS are there (well... most at least). unfortunately the only new DJ TAKA song ended up on HP2Sad
I am actually disappointed because DDR X does not have previous release songs! i mean even HP2 got a previous release! and also only 4 bemani cross overs! konami seriously needs to actually make a game based on what players want. not what konami thinks what we want

That can be pretty hard when there's about 100 different opinions out there on what makes a good dance game ;D.

"I'm honestly pissed off."
I need to play both more to decide which has more irritating continuing mistakes in it.
And Pie is right about the 100 different opinions. Thus, I base a fair portion of my views on objective stuff, like readability.

Isn't this a bit of an apples and oranges question? How can you fairly compare the two?

Nah, it's more like comparing lemons and limes. There are plenty of similarities to base a comparison on.

Indeed. I think I'm ruled out of having a say though since I haven't played either yet. That being said I'm dying to get HP2 (there's a good chance I may get it today; hopefully it's not sold out). Based on what I've seen and heard concerning both games, whilst X makes many notable improvements in the DDR Formula, overall the song list leaves much to be desired, despite the select hidden gems. On the other hand, the amount of improvements found in HP2 in addition to the stunning KO selection (and the song list overall) as well as the wide range of appeal make HP2 better than DDRX in my heart.

Sure many will disagree but in the long run, HP2 beats X. Plain and simple.

I have my reasons. Big Grin

A better question would be if HP2 is better than HP1.

I might just pick up HP2 tonight, I want Jun stuff... they sounded pretty cool, and the game has speed mods, right? That was my hugest gripe with the first installment

Yeah, it's got speed mods, but you're still stuck with vivid.

Well, better than nothing, both X and HP2 look great, I just am not looking forward to going back to that stock konami mat, I need to order one of those PS2-Wii converters... But yeah, I hope I can get this game tonight, and on a random side note, anyone know how much Guitar hero III/controller (wii) are worth @ gamestop?

And no Doubles, I'm guessing? That was another of my gripes with HP1.

"Gimme a mothaf----n' break!"
I like both of them, however, even though X is supposed to define DDR's 10th anniversary, HOTTEST PARTY2 is actually a lot more fun. It also reminds me of KONAMIX and EXTREME2 in the fact that the song list has a lot of great songs in it, and the steps for some of the songs, namely Tootsee Roll, are really, really fun.
