J-Horror Movies?!

So, I've come to the conclusion that 90% of the anime out there is unwatchable crap, and I've watched a fair amount of the good anime out there. So...onto....

J-Horror movies! Seen them? Which ones do you like? Which ones don't you like? Which ones would you recommend?

Personally, I prefer horror movies that get into your head and scare you rather than the just "BOO!" aspect of fear. Kinda like Silent Hill vs. Resident Evil for me. However, I've seen very little. In fact, only "Ju-On: The Grudge" (Not the American one...though I have seen that one).

Ive only seen that one movie where that asian girl is sorta after this guy and she does a bunch of freaky shit and the guy gets freaked out or something. Shit freaked me out.

Perhaps it's the language but they tend to really bore me, like The Ring, The Grudge and High School Ghost Stories, I think (a story of a ghost that falls in love with a guy and kills every girls who dare take him away from her).

I ever watch somewhat like Ju-ON or Sadako, and weirdly.... It don't make me fear but just make me angry. I don't know, every horror movie just make me mad and wanna destroy everything i saw.

I had already seen the Grudge (US version) when I watched Ju-On, so there were no surprises for me. It was funny seeing how they changed nearly everyone of the main characters to be an American who happened to be in Japan for the US release though xD.

There were a couple things that I don't remember from the US version though. Like the story of the three high school girls who went into the house. Two of the girls end up missing, and the third is scared out of her mind by the other two, to the point where she covers up her windows with newspapers (I do the same thing! Well, not really. I have foil and a blanket over the window in my room. Not because I'm crazy, but because I can't sleep when the sun it out, and I tend to go to bed at about 1am or 2am, so waking up at 6am is not fun in that context).

Is the original Japanese version of the Ring any good? I might check it out.

I've seen one J-Horror film called Audition, it's more of a thriller

I thought Jisatsu Saakuru/Suicide Club was really good. Probably best known where 54 school girls jump in the path of an oncoming train. Pretty gory.

I'm pretty sure that much blood doesn't come out after jumping off of a like...two or three story roof xD.

Ugh, yes. That still sticks in my mind. It is an ultra creepy scene, even though you can tell everything is rather fake.

Wasn't that near the beginning of that suicide montage near the end? That sequence makes me laugh, actually.

Yeah, where the people hang themselves, the guy takes a bunch of pills, the guy stabs himself on stage, the lady cuts her hand off, the other lady sticks her head in the oven (I might be leaving some out).

Actually, the lady sticking her head in the oven did make me snicker. Mainly because of the song playing the background.

This thread got me hyped up about this movie. I'm watching it right now on Youtube. It's pretty good so far and so damn creepy and scary. It's a shame the uploader numbered them wrong though

edit: piepie, I suggest you use the spoiler tag on your description of the suicides. It spoiled it for me. :C
