So what dance mat(s) do you use when you're not at the arcade?
I only have the regular PS2 Konami dance mat at the moment, which is unusable since my ps2 is broken. I'm thinking about getting an Ignition 3.0 pad and a new PS2 before DDR X comes out.

Ive got an Ignition 3.0 I use for stepmania thats pretty much finished. The plastic is peeled off everywhere and you can pretty much see all the sensors and stuff inside and the arrows work when they want to. Ive also got a HP pad that misses the left arrow all the time. Then again, this is why I only play arcade nowadays.

I use a metal TX2000, which I modded to get more sensitivity out of. I have 16 other dance pads too, 3 being ignitions, and the rest being soft pads.

Usually one of two padded foam mats I bought off play-asia. They are pretty damn decent and do the job well, plus they are more comfortable than metal can be.
I'll probably be using the official Konami mat which comes bundled with Hottest Party once my order arrives. Have to see how it fairs compared to the old third party mats I used to buy.

I have third party dance mat , not from Konami so it very slippy when i play fast songs (Because it covered with smooth white plastic). Now, i never use it and i prefer playing DDR on ARC.

My mats are all tore up. They're the ones that you get from SN1 and SN2.

Third Party is cheap but unreliable if you're a dedicated player. My two foam mats cost me in the region of £100 (~$200?) with shipping and delivery included but it's worth it for the quality and amount of play I'll get out of them. I think they are a good alternative to a self-made metal pad (which would be challenging to make) or a costly cobalt flux (in the region of $300 or so?).Depends on your budget and what you are willing to pay or what you find more comfortable to play on.

I have a nameless metal pad (I think it's a Blade) for my birthday and I have 2 cheap pads that I actually managed to pass some 10's on.

Best mat ever.Anway, I use a Cobalt Flux, as seen in my videos.
Someone mentioned the bundled pad with HP. It's pretty good, but don't even try to play barefoot. I learned to do 9s on it.
Better option if you have a high quality pad you can hook up to your PS2 is to hunt down a seller of PS2 -> GC converters. I bought one for ~$50.

Hard wood floor as a dance mat?
Am I seeing things...?
I got the Konami's mat plus Konami's manner cushion underneath it. But that sucker slides all over the place on carpeted floor!
I wanna get the Cobalt Flux too, but it is still too expensive for what I am capable of doing at DDR. My level is not there yet.

A new DDR SN1 is selling for about 17 grand on Amazon, from Betson.

Nice ASCTX-1000 with each panel cracked in half
two CFs with screws flying out of them
My pads are notorious for eating human flesh
I've given up on home versions.

The worst part is the sensors don't work. DX
