OK, a proper explanation here.
Purpose
User Ratings are given by users to rate a particular users' forum conduct and manners as well as post quality.
How To Avoid Low Ratings
USE COMMON SENSE, DO NOT ASK OBVIOUS OR STUPID QUESTIONS IN THE FORUMS
1. Spell correctly. Please check your posts before submitting.
2. Use grammar correctly. Use full punctuation at all times.
3. Structure your posts so that it is easy for other people to read and understand.
4. Add useful information to threads.
5. Be kind, courteous, and considerate towards other members.
6. Keep personal disputes and arguments towards other members in private messages and/or outside of ZIv.
7. Do not post in old threads unless absolutely necessary.
8. Do not post one word posts.
9. Do not post irrelevant posts or threads.
10. Do not shitpost. That should go without saying.
11. Do not insult, upset, or be rude other members.
12. Do not post posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread in question.
13. Do not give ratings to others based on personal opinions or judgement.
14. Do not publicly complain or boast about your current user rating.
How It Works
A user may give another user a rating of a minimum of -5 points to a maximum of 5 points. It is more fair that users that have higher ratings, the more respected members, have higher influences over someone's rating than someone that has a poor rating. Hence the calculation of the ratings is slightly more complicated than just adding them up, so instead, we have to consider everyone's rating first and then recalculate all the ratings from that.
An user's final rating is calculated as follows:
All ratings of all users are pulled from the database and summed up altogether. The resulting rating is called the raw rating, using the raw rating, we can calculate the rating power of each user:
If the raw rating of an user is more than or equal 0, the rating power is 1.00 + (0.01 × Raw Rating).
If the raw rating of an user is more than -75 and less than 0, the rating power is 0.75 + (0.01 × Raw Rating).
Using the ratings from the database again, we add up the ratings again but taking into account the rating powers of every user.
For example, say User1 gave User2 a rating of 5 and User1 has a raw rating of 150, User1's rating power is therefore 1.00 + (0.01×150) = 2.50, so the User1's 5 to User2 is actually 12.5.
When all ratings have been processed, the users' final ratings have been calculated.

User Rating Bans
When a user has been acting badly in the forums, negative ratings will be given. If a user's final rating somehow drops below -100, that user will be promptly banned due to bad conduct in the forums.
Any ratings given by a member that has not been active in the past 90 days will not count.

Your post is missing something. How do I make my rating jump 1000 points overnight? I want a rating of 1264 like Oni-91 has....

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start.
But seriously, I have absolutely no idea what's happened. I suppose Al can see who's rated who, so we can see if it's a system fault (likely) or a load of people spam voting me for some reason (which I wouldn't really like, as it makes me look important, and I don't like looking important.)

Yeah. I think the extra one might be an error. Then again, you could just be REALLY popular.

I don't think the extra 1 is an error. I had around 330 before this...thing. Also, it says I have a raw score of 771...
That said, if someone is forcibly doing this, could you just temporarily get me to 1337, then drop me down to 330? Thanks.

Everybody's rating has fluctuated overnight. What's going on here? o_O?
Edit: I think it's either the lurkers that we have on the site or that something went wrong with the rating's formula. While this may be a positive outcome to some, it isn't a positive outcome to all.

I don't know, but mine only went up 30 points. Not that it surprises me. My rating increases at a slower rate than almost everyone else's.

The reason why most people's ratings increased as well is more than likely due to the fact that Oni had rated you a number, and his huge increase in his own user rating made his rating power even higher.
i'm not sure how much more mine went up from this though.

Holy crap, Oni's rating. Aww, my hopes were up when I logged on and saw a 30 point boost in my user rating.

I know, popular dude.
Unfortunately your previous score of 330 didn't exactly come from nowhere so 1337 might be a bit out of your reach.
