So yeah, I might be getting a DS for Christmas/my birthday, and I was wondering what gaem I should ask for.
-I'm really leaning towards Star Fox: Commend and Elite Beat Agents, but I'm kinda wanting a cool litle platformer.
-I miss the RPG mechanics of Pokemon, so I might get that DS Pokemon game or whatever.
What should I get first?

You should get the DS version of Final Fantasy III, I had it for just good old Game Boy and it was fun, but the new one for DS looks awesome...T.T get it, play it, and ship it to me, I want it.

you could get legend of zelda the hour glass.
That game looks wicked.
But pokemon is pretty good i have that.

If you're thinking of EBA, then seriously consider Ouendan2. Better replay saving, higher difficulty. gamefaqs has songlists, and there might be a few videos on youtube. Only downside is you're looking at double the price because it's an import. And yes, it's perfectly playable even if you don't understand a lick of japanese (like me).
New Super Mario Bros. is a great platformer. If you're one of those OCD people that like to collect every item and beat every stage, it'll keep you busy for quite a while.

i dont play the DS as much i used to, but get Trauma Center Under the Knife, if u have that for the Wii, dont bother cause its almost the same thing. another good game is Mario Kart DS

If you don't mind the language barrier, try and import Daigasso! Band Brothers. It's a bit like Beatmania, with the exception that you can also make your own songs.

The Phoenix Wright series is great, too! I recently got into it and I'm lovin it already.
EBA Is just awesome, too. I actually wanna get the Ouendan games, too.
