It's an interesting thought to consider, but it seems rather pointless to make bs charts out of laziness in a simfile competition based on making good charts.

You don't win anything in the competition, but do get the chance for people to view what you create. There is that yes and no chance of displaying what you can do if you do or don't decide on trying at all.

Seriously...

Why go through so much trouble when you can just randomly give the song-less person one of the other songs? There's no problem with 2 people having to work on the same song, it just gets more interesting, because you'll see two people come up with completely different files from the same source material.

It's either that or we use the backup songpile concept Aegis/silent proposed.

To be honest I can see this concept working well. Hell, I'd submit songs to the back up pile too, every week if possible.

EDIT: due to a miscommunication, some parts of the first post isn't accurate. I need ya to send in cut songs with SM files (which contains BPM and OFFSET tag). I can help with both of these tasks, so if you need so just tell me in the PM.

It will be in one week, so deadline is 20/01/2013 23:59 EST.
After that I will shuffle the songs and distribute accordingly.

I assume that this initial week is just for submitting files. Next week we make our file and submit round 2 files. The following week (and every week after that) we make a file, vote on files, and submit files. At least I hope it isn't more complicated than that.

Actually the real action is every 2 weeks.
1st week is music submission, 2nd week is simfile creation, 3rd week is judging week and music submission, 4th week is 1st round winner announcement and simfile creation. Repeats every two weeks.

Though if everyone wants it, we can compress it like that, so we step stuff every week. (I do think that stepping one file every two weeks is too sparse but if compressed there's lots of actions in a week)

I think it would make more sense that way. This first week is a good ramp up to get people ready, though in all other contests we were voting and submitting at the same time and with the option of multiple files. So I can't see it being too hectic for people. (I know I'm one to talk with my spotty participation)

Agreed.

So what's everyone's else say on this? I do think this is a good thing and most probably we'll implement it.

I think one file a week is okay, playing all 20 files is another story but stepping should be okay for me at least

haha we all used to do that for Summer Contests.
anyway so far the entries are okay, I think people can get something good out of these.
