I really like the sound of Over The "Period" so far. But damn, that slowdown, especially cruel when you have to PFC the song.

Agreed. That's why I like Encore Extra Stages and was disappointed when they weren't present at all in DDR 2013 (save for the glitch where the already-unlocked Another Phase appeared briefly). But this level of difficulty (emphasis on having to play five other Extra Stages every time) is a bit much.As the song is slowly uncovered, it's like watching a composer create and it's amusing.

Obligatory score breakdown:
So previously we knew the number of steps+freezes in the song was between 603 and 606. FEFEMZ just scored 48600 getting 16 Marvelouses, 7 OKs, 6 Perfects, and 1 Great.
So that's (16+7)x + 6(x-10) + x/2 - 10 = between ~48600.0 and ~48609.9, for some x that is an exact divisor of 1,000,000.
Some quick algebra reveals that the actual number of steps+freezes in the song is exactly 606. Yay. In addition, we know there are at least 10 freezes in the song, so the max combo is no higher than 596.
For some semi-wild speculation, the first 25 steps of the song include 10 freezes among them. If this ratio is maintained for the rest of the song (yeah right), then the max combo would be about 433.

It starts off kindof happy sounding, but those last two notes shifting into Minor Key give me some hope for a darker song.

So turns out it's surprisingly hard to get an accurate count of everything, given that the cabinet lights are actually ahead of the steps by at least 1 frame at 30fps, yet they miss out on the timing of the 32nd notes (since they come too fast for the light to fully flash off and on), yet they're also crucial for figuring out the timing of the slowdown after the point FEFEMZ failed.
Anyway, the first six beats all scroll by in either 55 or 56 frames each, so there's probably no slowdown there. Specifically, it takes between 332 and 334 frames for all six beats to scroll by, meaning the BPM is somewhere between 32.33 and 32.54. Combined with the first video's estimate which placed the BPM between 32.43 and 33.03 from the first two beats only, it looks like the true BPM is just about 32.5.
After that, the next three beats take 60, 65, and 72 frames to scroll by respectively. This means that not only does the song slow down starting from the first long freeze, but each of the three long freezes slows it down even more. My estimates (subject to rounding error) have the BPM dropping to 30, 27.7, then 25.
For reference, 32.5 BPM is half the speed bag scrolls at. Even if you played Over The "Period" on 8x, the beginning would be slower than Max 300. And we're supposed to have been required to read this at 1x speed, given how it immediately follows Max.(period) and the speed mod change buttons are disabled. And you can't even turn Cut on. And you can only play this song once every six Extra Stages at most, following an 18 you have to AA, following a Phase 2 you have to unlock, following a chart you have to read on 900 BPM Reverse, following a deceptively tricky 17 with 440 BPM 8th note crossovers you have to AA, following five other Extra Stages. *exhale*
(inb4 Konami actively forces 1x on this song the same way Cut is already forced off and the same way 1.5x Reverse was forced on for the first Encore, and the same way they changed the rules on Valkyrie dimension)
Also someone please make a simfile of the first 9 beats (even though there's no music after the 7th). I want to see just how hard the last four notes are to read and time at 1x. (This is after it starts slowing down; FEFEMZ only hit the first slowed down note and and failed on the second.)

Here's what I predict will happen:
After the up freeze arrow that emerges from the bottom of the game screen in FEFEMZ's recent video, the song will probably speed up. Since the song starts off at about 32.5 BPM,, it'll probably go to 130 or 260 (32.5 X 4 = 130, 130 X 2 = 260). I'm guessing 260 is more likely if the song is a 15 on
. It's probably going to be a stamina-draining stream of 8th notes at 260 BPM, with speed gimmicks thrown in to keep players off balance, including but not limited to numerous stops and a few slowdowns to 130 BPM. The ending could be a 520-BPM surge, but that's just me speculating.

Does that apply to EGOISM 440 to get the final orb for MAX. (period)? I'm assuming MAX. (period)
