Android App

This might not fit the thread, but is there a chance that this could also be an iOS app down the line?

I'll release a very early APK by the end of the week, but initially it'll only have phone layouts.


Unless I can code iOS programs without a Mac, this isn't going to happen. Apple charging $99 per year for the privilege doesn't motivate me either.


Some basic news functionality implemented, the DDR Score Tracker should work.

The app is currently optimised for Android 4.4 but should work on all devices down to 2.2, the presentation of UI will depend on which version of Android you are running.

If bugs or crashes happen at any point and the issue can be reproduced, post a full step-by-step of how to trigger the crash and optionally include a screenshot.

Basic chat functions added.

The Score Tracker looks good so far; I submitted a score through the app and it's successfully saved. Now it would be great if this is the next step:


Also, it seems that touching songs that have "No Chart Info" next to them does nothing so far. In the future, maybe you can add PM functionality for both normal PMs and for submitting missing step counts.

In the submit score page, there should be menu options for "Take Photo" and "Pick Photo" do they not show up for you? If not, let me know your Android version and device so I can take a look.

The "No Chart Info" part I will implement once I get PMs working on the app.

Huh, I actually missed that part somehow; it wasn't visible at first, but I figured out where it was. I'll try it out once the score tracker is updated.

UPDATE: I almost forgot about two things:
1) I see that all of the Japanese song titles and artists are romanized/translated into English. Is there (or will there be) an option to keep the original Japanese names? If so, maybe there is also a chance that there is a Japanese option for the whole app itself.
2) More importantly, an issue I found is that when I try to erase a score I already entered (set all the judgement boxes to 0 or blank and "submit"), a loading indicator shows up, but it seems to stay there forever with nothing happening, and so I had to go back to the song select screen to cancel the operation. So there is an error message when the step count inputted is too high, but not when it's too low?

This has been fixed for the next APK release. The app actually did nothing but display that progress indicator. Entering all 0s for the judgements will delete your score.

Bump:

Tapping on a "No Chart Info" row will now automatically create a PM template for you to fill in values like this:

I see you're always one step ahead, that's great.

Although, I tried to upload a photo from the score tracker, but I keep getting a "communication error" message. It doesn't matter if I try to upload three megabytes or half a megabyte.
And I'm not sure if this is implemented yet, but is there an option to enter a name and description for the picture itself?

Hmm that's odd, I just tried uploading a picture and it worked, it could be a server error. Would it be possible to PM me a picture taken from your phone? It could be the server is rejecting it.

Picture comment and names aren't implemented yet, but I'll note that for the next release.

Interesting. Somehow the new version fixed the communication error and I was able to submit the pictures and the scores successfully.

Uploading larger pictures takes a minute, but it gets the job done. Deleting scores now works too.

Minor issue(?): all the Japanese song names in the list are displayed correctly, but once I touch the song itself to enter a score, the song is translated at the top of the screen.

Another suggestion (that you may or may not know already): it would be cool if we can also upload pictures to categories other than the score tracker (e.g. arcade locations).

I literally noticed this bug a few minutes after exporting the v0.1.2, the fix will be in v0.1.3.

Chat on the app isn't working for me anymore. I restarted the app, then my phone, and I still wasn't able to use it.

Also, are we going to be able on the forums soon, or is that later on? I'm not a fan of posting from the mobile website, and using the
desktop site on my phone to post is rather difficult.

No error messages. Opening the chat simply brings me to the chat screen, but no messages are loaded and I can't send any.

Hmm I see, one of two things is happening. Either the room list cannot be downloaded or the response you're getting is corrupt.

• Added arcade location support.
• Added vibrate function when someone mentions your username in the chat.
• Added support for appending usernames to the chat text box when you tap on a chat message.
• Added support for opening links in chat messages.
• Modified score submission performance. Only the score submitted will be returned by the server updating the app's local score file, dramatically improving the performance when a score is submitted. If all scores on the device needs to be refreshed, use the Download Scores menu option.
• Modified some text boxes so all text is selected on focus.

where can i find the app? Its not on Google play.

By using the link/QR code in the post two posts before yours.
However, the app doesn't work correctly (at least in my experience), and I don't think there will be any further progress made.

well the link is broke and i can't use the QR code as my phone doesn't support it so is the QR (just found out that my phone can do QR code).
