Anyone else here an avid Tetris Attack fan? Man, its just such an awesome game (especially for a puzzler). Its high paced and has lots of action and its just so amazing. This is probably the one game ahead of DDR/IIDX on my favorites list.

Yup, I'm an avid Tetris Attack fan. Although now, the series is pretty much referred to "Puzzle League".

I played that game so much when i was younger, I recently got to play it again and I've finally beaten Bowser in Story Mode, then I started the special hard mode and Lakitu kicked my butt! I'm gonna struggle a lot to get it!

Tetris Attack was quite the amusing game although IIDX is still my favorite game.

I remember going to my ant’s house back in the day. They had a Super Nintendo with 2 games, Mario World & Tetris Attack. Not really a big fan of puzzle games, but my Bro loves them.

Why is Tetris Attack not on the Virtual Console?

While I'm not sure about Japan's or Europe's VC listings, I'm sure they chose Pokemon Puzzle League over Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon or any other incarnation out there mainly because it would sell pretty fast being a Pokemon title.

It also made sense to use PPL because of the additional game modes like 3D Mode and such.

I'm not too sure. It's just a theory.

And no, it's only the original for me. I also like Columns and Puyo Puyo.

I heard there was licensing issues with the name, thats why we got Pokemon Puzzle League instead.

I'm a huge Tetris Attack fan... used to be really good at it, too. Probably would be again if I were to bother with it...

In terms of the so-called "action puzzle" games, though, I've recently been a bit too preoccupied with Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix, Lumines (1 on PC, 2 on PSP), and Gunpey (which is awesome... I highly recommend playing this one if you haven't already, although I can only comment on the PSP version, not the DS one).
Keep clear... fat man dancing! Seventeen stone and grooving with the best of them Smile

Oh man... when I was just a little kid, I played this non-stop. I played until I figured out how to get Vhard, and then got the level 7 com to beat it for me until I got to Bowser. He's actually fairly easy... If you take him out right away. I wish they'd make it for another console...

I have Tetris Attack, I really need to play it more often!!
I love it, it's so much fun and the music is actually one of the best aspects I think!

I used to be pretty good, but i think I would have lost practice by now..

Yeah, somewhere around 2005, Henk Rogers of The Tetris Company turned into the Stalin of puzzle games. From that point on, anything with Tetris in its name had to be a falling-block Tetris game with a 10-wide, 20-high well, use The Tetris Company's own (ridiculously convoluted) "Super Rotation System" algorithms in the engine, use the same block colors from Tetris Worlds (even though there had been an different unofficial standard for years), allow infinite rotation, and use a "bag" randomizer that would simply deal all 7 pieces in different permutations.

Obviously, Tetris Attack didn't fit that description.

Anyways, somewhat bitter rant aside, I'm a huge fan, and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. Does anybody here own Planet Puzzle League for the DS? I'd be up for a game over wi-fi. (I prefer to play with items off, though.)

Is Planet Puzzle League basically the same thing, but for the DS?

"Retired?"
Back in my prime...we're talking 2002, 2003...give or take...

I used to play it quite a bit, took my fair share of tourneys and then the Internet hit and I got a rude awakening to how bad-ass some people really are at the game via zbattle.net and other sites like tetrisattack.net. Needless to say, my paltry 30+K Time Trials didn't come close to comparing with 80-90+K. I also got whooped fairly bad when it came to Vs. Mode most times, but I could at least hold my own for a few minutes against the really good ones.

I've since been out of that and am really back into just socially playing it. It loses its edge after a few years. Now Killer Instinct on the other hand...
