I have an interest in playing a couple of Japanese PS2 games on my North American system. I have DDR 5thMIX for PSOne already, and have been able to play that with something called the PS-X-Change. However, I am interested in getting initial D Special Stage for PS2, and would like something that will let me play import games for PS2 and PSone on my PS2 console. I don't care much if it's a mod chip or other device (although I'd prefer not to use an internal mod-chip), but what do you use?

I don't play imports anymore (I owned a Japanese PS2 SCPH-18000, until it broke), but from my experience, people had internal mod-chips, or Swap Magic.
Swap Magic comes with two discs (CD & DVD). That link explains virtually everything about it.
