That's a problem with the program itself, *not* the theme.

here is the video it has all the animations for the theme.

Once, when I was in RAEG MODE I tried several songs and held escape to quit the song and return to ScreenSelectMusic, and I did it repeatedly, somehow the theme (or SM-AMX) glitched (?) and let's say I'm playing Trigger. I saw "Artist: sonic-coll." and "sonic-coll." written overlapping each other. I never attempted to replicate this bug (?), though.

Can the banners be adjusted to become perfect squares?

but, some graphics needs to be edited

Like the banners?
The banners are from the backgrounds right? So they need to be adjusted so as to fit the necessary dimensions the banner needs (correct me if I'm wrong). BTW, what are the banner measurements?

this BG wheel using 4:3 (because BG always use 4:3 aspect ratio)
size on BG wheel is 200x150

so if the banners are not quite the right size but is near the right size, Stepmania stretches the image to fit the banner am I correct?

yeah, i also try 1:1 (150x150), the BG on wheel is cropped both sides (left and right)

Last question, are the backgrounds used as the banners or not? I'm quite confused if I'm going to edit the banners myself from the original backgrounds or not

Some of the simfiles that have BG Movies have black backgrounds to look like the original DDR songs

yes, BG is used as banner on screen select music
you still need banners for evaluation screen because the program itself not implementing yet
you can use your edited BG or black background (depends of you)
or try this solution
1. make another Background
2. save the background with different filename
for example:
(your BG).png
(original BG(black background)).png
3. modify your .SM file, you need to change or add the following line
#BACKGROUND: (insert your edited BG).png
#BGCHANGES:0.000 (if no anything on that beat) or -1.000=(original BG(black background)).png=0=0=0
