This may sound really stupid but I'm not really smart when it comes to 360 connection & what not
Ok so I used to be connected wireless on my computer & 360, but yesterday the WiFi I used to be on crapped out & wont work anymore & the WiFi signal the dorm house gives us is horrible (All the dorms except the one I'm staying got updated during the summer ) & the room I'm staying in has only one router plug, & I can't plug in my laptop & 360 at the same time. Do I need a router or something to be connected online on my laptop & be on Xbox Live at the same time?

setting up another router would most likely create some ip conflicts because the dorm already uses a massive router/switch
im not sure how similar it is to the instructions posted above, but i would first connect wired to your laptop and then set up an ad hoc network using your wireless card and bridge the lan connection to your wifi. i dont know how well it works for 360 but it its worth a try if the first one doesnt work.
i would see if you can get the first steps working first because my way is a little complicated
worked for me when the wifi at a hotel i was at was terrible but the wired was 10 times better and everyone wanted it.
