Horrible implementation imo. youtube has videos of a simulator that has different color normal notes for holds that just freeze at the hit point.
I can imagine it being hard to tell when to let go if it's implemented like this though.
Though they really should implement different colour/marker for hold note because sightreading hold notes seems so impossible right now.

It seems easier to tell how long the hold are the way they are now, until you realize the marker speed is variable so it's memorization game again
but so has the whole jubeat been so nothing new

Yeah, you can barely sightread stuff in jubeat compared to games like DDR or IIDX.

I don't feel like jubeat is as bad as you guys make it out to be.
With the exception of stuff like the infamous JOMANDA cross, the whole Triple Journey (EXT) chart, etc. Jubeat is pretty sightread-able once you find a marker that you're comfortable with.
If you're aiming for EXC or close to that, memorization is inevitable though, especially for higher-end lv10s.
But things like getting SS on lv10s on sightread isn't that impossible. The lenient timing might be the main reason here though.
It's much better than similar style rhythm games like Rhythmin and CrossXBeats imo. (May be due to me having played Jubeat for a much longer time than the other two though.)
If you're comparing with drop-down style stuff like DDR and iidx than I have no objections.

I agree with Thaws too, Jubeat is pretty sight-readable, with some really rare exceptions, being mostly top-class level 10 (and gimmicky level 9). Personally, jubeat fulfill only has 1 chart I couldn't SS-sight-read and that was dopamine (that I still can't SS, it's just a matter of the chart being just too hard, there isn't that much traps in it)
I even feel it's not that different from IIDX/DDR who have speed-changes charts who are basically just memorisation as well (or heavy scratch songs for IIDX per example)

That's not even mentioning Reflec Beat (which, when it comes to sightreading, is pretty much impossible).

Really? I'm playing both on my iPod (7-8 on RB, 6-7 on jukebeat) and I'm finding RB a dickload easier to sightread.

It only applies to lv10 and lv10+ for rb really, because it's extremely difficult to sight read the rhythm when it involves a mixture of normal notes and top notes. The biggest offender is 海神 where you basically have to memorize the whole chart as it's almost impossible to tell if you start with the top note or not. (It's so fun once you got it memorized though)
I find myself still having to go for handclap videos for many 10+s in rb to get their rhythms while I don't really have to do that for jubeat lv10s anymore
Though the funny thing is HAERECTUS is probably very sight readable as it just spam you with 16-th note streams haha but my reflex just can't keep up.

Lies and Slenderman. I got a AAA on quaver HARD when I first played it; sightreading in REFLEC BEAT is really not that bad.

Great to know I'm not the only one having problems with 海神 lol

Some older charts will be revised with hold markers. I assume this means their old charts will be replaced:
-We're So Happy
-FLOWER
-Love*km
-robin
New song difficulties!
SHAMDEL // Braid & Blade [BAS 3] [ADV 7] [EXT 9]
小野秀幸 // Two Pianists [BAS 4] [ADV 8] [EXT 10]
movies (moimoi×Xceon×Dai.) // Too Late Snow [BAS 3] [ADV 6] [EXT 9]
劇団レコード // アレスの楯 [BAS 4] [ADV 7] [EXT 9]

Maybe I'm the outlier, but I don't find either any harder to sightread, even on an iPod.Anyway, even though I'm nowhere near playing 10's, I feel like a part of jubeat is being destroyed by these dumb "updated" charts (i.e. FLOWER's weird circle thing near the beginning being turned into 4 hold notes...*slow clap*).

I really like the animation this time

Damn, four different locations at once for testing. I wonder if they changed how hold marker would appear.

トリカゴノ鳳凰 [EXT] with hold notes
not sure if it happened in any of the other hold note charts so far, but notes can still appear over a hold note line in progress (see 1:34)
