I was hoping to make one myself, then I saw Stepmaniac on YouTube talk about how he spends 4 to 5 hours on one. It seems then that it will be a while before I could produce a quality one. It is somewhat mysterious to me. It seems that as Stepmania can tell the BPM it is only a matter of inserting steps for each beat. Why is it not that simple?
If anyone could make a quality simfile for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJAjOlp4Tas while I learn the ropes I would appreciate it.

Oh god, good LUCK.
The biggest issue with stepping songs by bands like CCR is that you have to deal with wavering and unsteady BPM, which is extremely hard to do by hand. What I would suggest you do is download a piece of software called DDreamStudio (click here), which would help you out so much, that is, if you can figure out how to work it.
Don't get me wrong, I love CCR, they're one of my favorite bands of all time, but I completely avoid stepping their songs because of having to work with an unsteady BPM.

DDReam Studio isn't that hard to use. A good trick is to, while syncing the song with the program, only register every four beats and then just use the Autofill Beats tool to add the other three beats for each measure. It won't always be completely perfect, and you might occasionally want to fine-tune a few of the changes in StepMania, but it's definitely helpful.
