So... say I'm coming over to London for a week at the end of August, and will mainly be sticking around the city itself (apaprently the hostel my friend and I are staying at is walking distance to Buckingham, Piccadilly, etc).
What would you guys recommend as places of interest to see while I'm over there?![Big Grin](../emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Hmm, you should've put this in the UK forum. XD
Erm, not sure to recommend really.
Sightseeing, you have places like Piccadilly Circus (day and night), St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, The O2 (aka Millenium Dome), The London Eye.
You have tour buses and river cruises for these things too. Or you could take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to look at the Docklands district if you're into urban landscapes.
For arcades, your best bet is Funland at the London Trocadero, it's a three or four storey arcade complex; but the maintenance they do there is quite poor so do expect some machines to be half broken or something. >_<
Maybe someone else in the UK other than me can give you more places, I haven't explored London all that much myself. XD

London is positivley bursting with tour busses and stuff. I'm being serious, you can't turn a corner in Central London without seeing something touristy; especially during the summer.
You want to go into Hamley's. It's as expensive as hell but damn it's a cool store. It's like the... Super-Grand-Mega-Ultra-Boss ... Scratch that, it's the Fascination MAXX of toy stores. Sure it also the toy store for people who have money to burn but it's nice to window shop.
You might want to check out the Millenium eye which is just a tricked out ferris wheel. Fun though.
Buckingham palace is a lot smaller in person but it's a good visit anyway. Conviniently enough, its near a park thats real nice. I think its hyde park, i forget.
But bottom line is you can pick up a map of london from anywhere. just follow that. It's a nice city to go to.
I don't actually live in London but I've been too many times to count. And I have family there.
EDIT: should've typed faster.

Buckingham Palace is closer to St. James's Park than Hyde Park I think.
Oh god, if you are planning to use the London Underground during peak periods, expect it to be packed.![Big Grin](../emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

If you like going extremely slowly in a circle, then the London Eye's your best bet. Though to be honest, you could get the same effect trying to drive through the congestion-charged areas...or rotating on a swivel chair, pushed by a gerbil.

Haha Al, I've been warned about that already. ![Big Grin](../emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
I like the analogies there Oni, except I won't be doing any driving... you Brits and your reversed roadways would absolutely destroy me because I'm so used to Canadian driving.
